Explore & compare the economics of different residential heating systems
IEA (2021), Residential Heat Economics Calculator, IEA, Paris /data-and-statistics/data-tools/residential-heat-economics-calculator
This interactive calculation tool allows you to explore and compare the economics of different residential heating systems, in terms of cumulative discounted cash flow and levelized cost of heating (LCOH). Default parameter values are provided for information. Default values for heat demand are based on IEA energy efficiency indicators, default fuel price assumptions are based on IEA energy prices datasets.
Please note that significant variations exist for every parameter across building stocks, making each residential heating installation a specific case. When clicking on the expanding arrows, the sliders allow you to adjust the assumptions, such as technology investment costs, fixed operating and maintenance costs, fuel costs, discount rate, policy support and carbon tax rate. The figures allow you to visualize the sensitivity of results to each parameter.
