A week before the Spartakiad tennis tournament, on May 14, the metro builders held their team championship, which also became a qualifying competition. As last year, the Terkom of the Mosmetrostroy workers' trade union rented a convenient tennis hall on Sushchevsky Val. Nine teams competed in a fierce, uncompromising fight, each with two participants, and if the match ended with a score of 1:1, a doubles match was scheduled.
“As a result of an intense three-hour struggle, the SMU-24 team won first place, and the team silver went to the SMU-12 tennis players,” said Georgy Ilyinykh. – An excellent result - the team SMU-25 received bronze medals, the active leadership of the trade union committee submits teams to all metro construction events.
The corporate tournament passed the baton to the capital's trade union competition. Mass starts are designed to unite labor collectives. Fifty teams, consisting of three people each, competed at 11 tennis tables.
“Mosmetrostroy was represented by racquet masters from three organizations: Tunnel-2001, Inzhproekt Institute and SMU-24,” he said. – The SMU-24 team was among the 16 best teams and became a finalist of the Spartakiad.
In addition, football matches and family starts were held on May 21. Ahead of metro construction workers is participation in five more types of the Spartakiad - chess, track and field relay, darts, tug of war, and weight lifting. Moreover, in the last two disciplines the rules have changed: weight categories have appeared. In tug-of-war, for example, teams with a combined weight of up to and more than 720 kilograms will compete separately, and this will make the tournament even more interesting.
