At on the territory of the Luzhniki Olympic complex, on August 13, the most anticipated sporting event of this summer took place - the XXXIII Spartakiad among Moscow builders, dedicated to the All-Russian Athlete's Day and Builder's Day.
On a hot Saturday morning, representatives of construction organizations filled Festival Alley, painting it with all sorts of bright colors of equipment. All participants were in a joyful mood, since the forced two-year break in competitions due to epidemiological restrictions made them miss competitions quite a bit.
According to tradition, the event began with an opening parade, where the best sports uniform and column decoration were assessed, taking into account slogans, streamers, flags, balloons and other paraphernalia. In recent years, Mosmetrostroy has confidently established itself among the leaders. Recently, baby strollers designed in the form of a tube have been added to the distinctive elements.
The opening ceremony was attended by the leaders of the Complex of Urban Development Policy and Construction of the City of Moscow, the Central Committee of the Builders Trade Union and the Moscow Federation of Trade Unions. Deputy Mayor of Moscow Andrei Bochkarev and Chairman of the Moscow Builders Trade Union Valery Laptev addressed the festival participants with a welcoming speech.
The program included competitions in athletics (long jump, 100 m, 400 m, 800 m and 1,500 m, 4x100 m relay), arm wrestling, weight lifting, darts, tug of war, volleyball and mini-football. Almost all of them took place on the grounds of the sports town. The exception was the mini-football tournament, held on the fields near the Small Sports Arena.
The most popular and favorite type is family relay races. Here, 21 families from Mosmetrostroy entered, which allowed them to take an honorable third place. By the way, the youngest participant in the celebration was two-year-old Miroslava, who competed for the Mosin family from SMU-24. The best indicator is for the Dmitriev family from SMU-6. Metro builders have similar achievements with a bronze tint in athletics and arm wrestling. Alexander Yastrebtsev from TO-6 distinguished himself on the treadmill, running first and third at distances of 100 and 800 meters, respectively. Alexandra Belova from SMS stopped one step away from gold - she has second place in darts.
Competitions in mini-football and volleyball have rightfully become spectacular and validating. The Mosmetrostroy teams showed their best moral and volitional qualities, losing only in the final to the same opponent - the Mosgosekspertiza teams.
According to the chairman of the Sports Club, Alexey Alexandrov, there was a little lack of strength in the fight for first place.
– This year the mini-football tournament brought together strong participants from 32 teams. In total, we played eight games of 20 minutes each - that’s a lot, and there were no close matches. Now we will prepare for City Day, we will definitely take revenge there,” said captain and coach Alexey Alexandrov.
Due to the large number of teams and only two playing fields, the volleyball tournament lasted all day. Considering the weather conditions: plus 28 degrees in the shade, it was not easy for both the players and the spectators who came to support their teams.
In total, metro builders held five meetings. The first two did not cause any particular problems. But the third game with the General Plan team, which had previously beaten our regular rivals from Mosinzhproekt, turned out to be stubborn. The victory over Genplan took us to the semi-finals, where further down the bracket we had to play against the young and lively SU-10 team. Thanks to the coordinated actions of all players, without exception, as well as timely substitutions (it was not easy to withstand the frantic pace of the game and the heat), in a fierce battle with a score of 2:1 in games, the Mosmetrostroy volleyball players reached the final.
– We were not able to snatch victory from the athletes of the Moscow State Expertise, but we are very pleased with the second place, this silver is more valuable to us than gold. This is the first time our volleyball team has risen so high,” Alexander Lebedev, captain and coach of the Mosmetrostroy volleyball team, shared his impressions immediately after the award ceremony.
As noted by the deputy chairman of the Sports Club, Georgy Ilyinykh, the holiday was held at a decent level, and the leaders of the trade union committees of metro construction organizations reacted responsibly to participation in the Spartakiad, ensuring a high turnout of athletes and fans. It was the large number of participants and the density of results that allowed us to take second place in the overall team competition among 33 companies, thereby confirming our status as the sports elite of the Construction Complex.
