Winter is the time to take your skis off the mezzanine, straighten your shoulders and go out into the cold to conquer the open spaces. This is what the metro builders did on the eve of an important event - the launch of the Big Circle Line, who took part in a number of sporting trade union events.
THE SEASON HAS OPENED
Fresh air and healthy habits - what could be better? The parade of ski competitions began on January 21 with the “Season Opening Prize in Bitz”. One of the best results in the race was shown by an athlete from Metrostroy, Daria Kozlova, Inzhproekt Institute, who took second place. She also became the best among metro construction athletes. Based on the results of the competition, she was awarded the Nikolai Akimov Cup.
The Cup was established in 2021 in honor of the former head of the Metrostroy sports club. N. Akimov put many young guys in the sports club on skis, passed on to them his skills and love for sports.
FAMILY SILVER
Two weeks later, on February 4, the annual traditional sports festival “Moscow Ski Track - 2023” took place, traditionally organized by the Moscow Federation of Trade Unions (MFP). About 60 metro builders participated in several disciplines: cross-country skiing, mini-football, weight lifting, and family competitions.
Electrical fitter SMU-24 Vyacheslav Mosin, his wife Daria and daughter Alexandra distinguished themselves in the family competition. In a close competition, they came in second place out of 50 participating families. And they were awarded by the IFP a winner’s diploma, three silver medals and a valuable prize - a fitness bracelet.
MASSIVE HEALTH RUN
On February 11, the main winter sporting event of the year, “Russian Ski Track 2023,” slipped across the country. The peculiarity of these competitions is that participants in all time zones start at the same time. This year there were more than half a million people. Olympic champions and sports veterans, professionals and amateurs, children and adults, in special equipment and funny costumes. The metro construction athletes didn’t lag behind them either.
Some showed their personal best, others simply remembered how great it is to ski.
HOLIDAY OF TOMORROW
One, two, three. Charging's announcer's voice sounded from the speakers. A cheerful, sporty morning on February 18 greeted the participants of the “Moscow Builders Ski Track - 2023”. The tents of the participating organizations grew up like warm houses on the basis of the Olympic training and sports center “Planernaya”. In them, participants could not only relax and change clothes, but also drink tea and traditional pies.
The unusually sunny and rather frosty weather favored the athletes. According to the results of the competition, Mosmetrostroy took two second places: Daria Kozlova among women at a distance of 3 km and her husband, Nikita, among men at a distance of 5 km, both from the Inzhproekt Institute, and two third places among athletes of 1978 and older: veterans Zoya Vasilyeva, SMU-8, and Andrey Zemtsov, TO-6.
“I was interested in skiing back in school in Udmurtia,” recalls bronze medalist Zoya Konstantinovna. – When I got married, I left because my husband set a condition: either family or skiing. But I still ran for myself. Now I live next to the Planernaya center and walk here all the time. So today the route was very familiar to me.
In addition, a separate prize, as the oldest participant in the competition, was given to Metrostroy TO-6 veteran Viktor Vorobyov, who turns 71 this year.
