On June 22, 2017, young specialists of Mosmetrostroy, led by Deputy General Director Oksana Menshina, took part in a flower-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier memorial, organized by the Council of Young Specialists of the Complex of Urban Development Policy and Construction of the City of Moscow.

Exactly 76 years ago, at 4 o’clock in the morning, without a declaration of war, treacherously violating the non-aggression treaty between Germany and the USSR, fascist German troops suddenly invaded Soviet territory, in accordance with previously prepared plans.
Now this day is a day of remembrance and sorrow, reminding us of all those who died, were tortured in fascist captivity, and died in the rear from hunger and deprivation. We mourn for everyone who, at the cost of their lives, fulfilled the sacred duty of protecting the Motherland.

The Eternal Flame is one of the main symbols of memory of the unprecedented feat that was accomplished by the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War. But an even more significant symbol for all of us is our own awareness that we are the descendants of a great generation of people who managed to defend the country with their courage and heroism. It is their blood that flows in our veins, and our memory of their Victory is the best gift to all living veterans and to those who are no longer with us.

We do not have the moral right to forget those who liberated our land from the fascist invasion, who fell in the fight against the Nazis for our freedom and independence. Our duty is to remember this, carefully preserve every grain of truth about the war, sacredly honor the memory of the dead and show tireless care for veterans.

ALYONA MENSHINA,
Deputy Chairman for Information Sector and PR
