On the last Sunday of October, team swimming competitions were held, which were part of the program of the Metro Construction Spartakiad. To conduct them, an indoor 50-meter swimming pool at the sports complex of the Moscow State Technical University named after N. Bauman was rented for three hours.

According to the competition conditions, it was possible to swim in any style. Our most prepared athletes demonstrated a technical crawl and, accordingly, showed good seconds. But most often the familiar “seedlings” were used.

The three best results of representatives of one or another division went into the team competition. Therefore, in the end, those “troikas”, where the crawlers set the tone, rose to the podium. First of all, this applies to the SMU-1 swimming team, which became the winner of the competition. Its leader, climber Evgeniy Mikhailov, finished in 26.14 seconds, which is close to the first category standard. Replacement surveyor Nikita Shevchenko lagged behind him a little. Master Roman Smykalov showed the third time - 28.22 seconds. The Tunnel 2001 team, which won silver, had lower speeds, but still two of the three swimmers completed it within 30 seconds - mountain masters Dmitry Tyurin and Alexander Kalaev. The top three also included fellow metro construction workers invited to the competition - sports fans from Metrogiprotrans. Their top three included the fastest swimmer of that day - engineer Tatyana Zvereva.

A total of 18 swims were conducted. 13 groups performed as full teams.

“I go to the pool regularly, I keep fit,” said Mikhail Panov, a swim participant and leading engineer of the engineering communications department of Mosmetrostroy. — I haven’t swam for a while since college, but I took part in this swim with pleasure.
