On November 16, representatives of the Moscow Metrostroy spoke to schoolchildren in engineering classes as part of the design and research engineering school “City of the Future”. The event was organized by the National Research Moscow State University of Civil Engineering as part of the pilot project of the Moscow Department of Education “Engineering Vacations”.

Delegates from Mosmetrostroy gave a lecture on the construction of the Metro “Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow” to schoolchildren from 8 Moscow schools, selected by competition and who came to the Solnechnaya Polyana boarding house near Zvenigorod to build their “Cities of the Future” projects in 7 days.

The Metrobuilders had the most interesting task of giving the children an in-depth understanding of the underground transport arteries that are located in their hometown.

Anatoly Nikolaevich Adadurov told schoolchildren about the history of the emergence and construction of the metro until 2000. The guys listened with respect and attention to the honored veteran of Mosmetrostroy. And at the end of the speech, he even gave a small quiz in which he asked the guys about the deepest Metro stations, the degree of inclination of the escalators, the stations that won Grand Prix prizes and much more. The guys vying with each other raised their hands to express their opinions and guess the correct answer.

Evgeniy Vladimirovich Bibikov, the head of the Tunnel-2001 section, undertook to talk about the application of knowledge and colossal experience accumulated by predecessors in the modern practice of construction of the Moscow Metrostroy. His speech was filled with engineering jargon. Listeners were immersed in the process of operation of modern tunnel boring systems that help build the most beautiful Metro in the world. Evgeniy Vladimirovich finished his report with a projection on the screen of a large map that reflects the organization’s construction plans for the near future.

Besides cars, subways are built by people. Natalya Aleksandrovna Krekova, head of the personnel and social development department of Mosmetrostroy JSC, told future engineers about providing workers with decent working conditions, a social package and guarantees, which are stipulated in the company’s Collective Agreement.

After the lecture, the guys asked many intelligent technical questions about the construction of the metro. The students surprised the speakers with their knowledge of engineering.

We hope that our lecture was not only interesting for the children, but also useful in creating their own “City of the Future”, which will solve many problems of a modern metropolis.
