On January 13, 2018, the Bitsa recreation area gathered a large number of sports and outdoor enthusiasts. 130 participants from 13 construction organizations in Moscow took to the ski track to compete for the Opening Prize of the cross-country skiing season.
The organization of this large sporting event from the Moscow Metrostroy was carried out by the Territorial Committee of the Mosmetrostroy Workers' Trade Union with the support of the Mosmetrostroy Sports Club.
The route passed through the Bitsevsky forest park and had a good configuration with ascents, descents and wide paths on rough terrain.
According to the competition program, the distance for women was 3 kilometers, and for men – 5 kilometers. Women competed in two age categories: 1999 – 1973 and 1972 and older. For men, there was also a division into age categories: 1999 – 1968 and from 1967. The personal results of the participants counted towards the team.
The level of participating athletes was very high. The first twelve best results were in the range of 0:11:00 – 0:12:00 seconds, despite the fact that to fulfill the standard for the 1st adult category, 15:05:00 is required.
Our skier Zoya Vasilyeva with a result of 0:17:22 received silver among women.

The “Bitsa” recreation area, by agreement with the Territorial Committee of the Mosmetrostroy Workers’ Trade Union, provided participants with rental skis and equipment at minimal preferential rates during the competition, which not only the athletes, but also our fans took advantage of and enjoyed skiing along the track after the starts and during the summing up of the races. Another pleasant moment was drinking tea with pies baked by order of the Terkom of the Mosmetrostroy canteen.
