The winners of the competition for the best forecast of the results of the World Cup, announced by the Metrostroyevets newspaper on the eve of the World Cup, were awarded. Three people became prize-winners: deputy site manager from SMU-8 Igor Boykov, mining foreman from TO-6 Andrey Skvortsov (far left in the photo) and escalator operator from SMU-4 Artem Tyurnikov (far right).
The authors of accurate forecasts correctly named 8 teams out of 10 possible (six weakest and four strongest). The winners accurately dealt with the teams that did not qualify from the groups, and also guessed two teams from among the semi-finalists.
The life of each of the competition winners is connected with football; they are not just fans. Igor Boykov came to Moscow from the city of Prokopyevsk, Kemerovo region, where he played for the Shakhtar team as a young man. During his student days, he was not distracted by sports, but his classmate at the Mining Institute was the famous Spartak player Fyodor Cherenkov. Now on weekends, Igor Vladimirovich chases a ball with his grandchildren at the dacha.
The young tunneling engineer Andrei Skvortsov, originally from Stary Oskol, Kursk region, had the opportunity to play for the team that took second place in the championship of this city. He had not yet had time to join the sports life of the metro construction workers.
Artem Tyurnikov is also relatively recently building a metro. The SMU-4 specialist was involved in football even before joining the installation team and now combines his hobby with work. On weekends he can be seen on the football fields of the Lokomotiv stadium. Tyurnikov is a long-time participant in one of the many LFL (Amateur Football League) teams that practice 8x8-person games.
Alexey Alexandrov, coach and captain of the Mosmetrostroy football team, presented memorable prizes to the winners of the competition.
