Our chess players were looking forward to the Mosinzhproekt Cup tournament. Of course: in the previous competition of Moscow construction organizations at the celebration of City Day in September, the Mosmetrostroy team took a confident second place, only 1 point behind the winner! To win the current tournament, the Turkmenistan of the Trade Union organized training for athletes, held competitions among chess players, purchased electronic chess watches with the latest technology and formed a team. We went to the Mosinzhproekt Cup, hoping to win this cup!
But, having seen the lists of participants from Moscow and the Moscow region in the Center for Chess Culture and Information of the State Public Library for Science and Technology of Russia, our athletes realized that it would not be an easy walk... A third of the declared participants have a personal FIDE rating! Among the players are candidates for master and master of sports in chess. And in our team, only the leader, Egor Shapiro (UMM), has a personal rating...
Nevertheless, the metro builders fought stubbornly. Each took the fight in 9 games. But even if you won half of them, you couldn’t count on victory, of course. It was not possible to win prizes this time. But the metro builders are not giving up. A real passion for sports awoke in the guys, and in a conversation with the sports organizer of the Terkom Trade Union, Georgy Ilyinykh, they unanimously raised the issue of organizing regular training, because practice hones skills. Yes, with such an attitude you can count on victory, regardless of all the credentials of your opponents!
