B These difficult days of the high alert regime, in conditions when even the usual work is associated with anxiety about health, the Terkom of the Metrostroy Trade Union has to radically change work in all areas of its activities, change forms of communication, and look for new approaches. This especially affects sports work, because sport is an active movement.

However, there is a sport that does not need stadiums and running tracks, rings and arenas. Under the conditions of self-isolation, the Terkom of the Metrostroy Workers Trade Union organized and held the first online chess tournament in the history of Mosmetrostroy.

We must, of course, admit that it was more of a training tournament. It turned out to be difficult to get together: some metro construction workers are working hard, including on evening shifts, maintaining the working rhythm of the capital.

The Internet service Chess.com was chosen as the platform for holding the tournament. The time limit for a game in rapid chess is 5 minutes. We played in a round robin system.

The tournament showed interesting results - 29-year-old mine surveyor from SMU-12 Aidar Enikeev, who had never previously won prizes in head-to-head competitions, but had been playing with Internet rivals for several years, took first place, displacing recognized chess leaders Egor Shapiro (UMM, 2nd place) and Georgy Ilyinykh (Terkom Trade Union, 3rd place).

It is rightly said - from the meeting of old traditions and new technologies a variety of new human interests is born. And this is correct - for some it is more comfortable to play on a real board with wooden pieces and an opponent sitting opposite, for others the Internet is already a familiar and natural environment.
