Dead ends behind “Kashirskaya”

To eliminate fork traffic on the Zamoskvoretskaya line, specialists from the Moscow Metrostroy built a reversible dead end behind the Kashirskaya station in the mid-90s. And on November 20, 1995, the Kashirskaya - Kakhovskaya section was separated into an independent Kakhovskaya line.

Now, as part of the reconstruction, metro builders have dismantled the ramp chamber and partially the tunnels of the reversible dead end to integrate the old Kakhovskaya line into the Big Circle Line (BKL).

In 2013, our photographer Alexander Popov captured the reversible dead ends behind the Kakhovskaya station - photo 1,3. And just recently the same place was caught on camera. Only now without the exit camera - photo 2.4. The Kakhovskaya line, which is only 3.3 km long, was in little demand among Muscovites, so they decided to include it in the BKL.

For this reason, it was closed in 2019 for global reconstruction. “Kakhovskaya” has already opened. "Varshavskaya" and "Kashirskaya" will also soon receive passengers.
