Preschool education in the best traditions of metro construction

In 1932, the first preschool institution was opened for the children of metro construction workers who selflessly worked on the ambitious project of the Moscow metro. Then there was only one group, but after a few years there were more than 30 specialized nurseries and kindergartens. Since 2001, seven departmental preschool institutions have become branches of the autonomous non-profit organization "WORLD OF CHILDHOOD", which maintains a strong connection with Metrostroy to this day.

"WORLD OF CHILDHOOD" are keepers of traditions and true innovators in the field of preschool education. It would seem like such contrasting roles, but the director of the organization Larisa Shevchenko admits: it was the educational foundations laid by the employees of Metrostroy kindergartens that became guides on the path to great success today. In terms of the number of achievements, “WORLD OF CHILDHOOD” can rightfully be considered a leader among Russian preschool institutions.

To understand the scale: the organization’s activities have long reached the international level, where its staff willingly shares their experience with colleagues from other countries. Since 2011, “WORLD OF CHILDHOOD” has been a member of the World Organization for Preschool Education OMEP under the auspices of UNESCO, and since 2019, an associated school of UNESCO. In addition, in 2016, Larisa Shevchenko becomes President of the Russian OMEP Committee.

Employees of the “WORLD OF CHILDHOOD” are creative and dedicated people. That is why the system is constantly developing advanced projects for the comprehensive development of children, highly appreciated by the masters of pedagogy. One of the latest is the “Golden Pedagogical Ring”, dedicated to the integration of cultural heritage into education. The teachers created a curriculum rich in elements of the living heritage of traditional crafts of the Moscow region, literally introducing them into all types of children's activities: from making crafts to studying mathematics. Also, excursions to craft production were organized for the pupils.

The activities of the organization are always at the peak of the current agenda of our time. Thus, the project “Environmental Patrol “Tsvetik-Semitsvetik”, which introduces children to the principles of sustainable development, has received great recognition at the domestic and international levels. At the same time, the organization itself, in its daily life, follows the 17 goals defined by the UN to improve the well-being of our planet.

Every year “WORLD OF CHILDHOOD” holds a unique festival “Little Ambassador of the Big World”, where pupils through creative performances reveal important and interesting topics, such as victory in the Great Patriotic War or cultural ties between countries.

The organization pays great attention patriotic education: the “WORLD OF CHILDHOOD” team carefully preserves the memory of the defenders of the Motherland and passes on history to the younger generation. And in the current situation, within the framework of the assistance announced by Metrostroy to the families of SVO participants, kindergartens “WORLD OF CHILDHOOD” are ready to accept, free of charge, the children of those who went to the front.

Thanks to its unique approach to the organization of activities and the high efficiency of the services provided, “WORLD OF CHILDHOOD” for the second time became a nominee for the prestigious Prize of the Government of the Russian Federation in the field of quality. The results of this year are still ahead, and we wish the team of the ANO preschool organization "WORLD OF CHILDHOOD" to receive a well-deserved award!
