Sing songs about peace and war

On February 15, 1989, the ten-year military mission of the USSR Armed Forces in Afghanistan ended. For many, this date, as well as friendly matches, have special meaning. After all, these people were in that war and saw everything with their own eyes. Sometimes warm friendly hugs and songs that everyone sings together can soothe their pain.

Celebrating the anniversary of the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan is a tradition that is being repeated for the 32nd time. Unfortunately, the ranks of those who once stood shoulder to shoulder on fiery ground are thinning.

“The guys are leaving, and we decided to make a short film,” said Viktor Korduban, an internationalist soldier who heads the Afghan-Metrostroy ROO. – We started last year, choosing Poklonnaya Hill as the location. This time they recorded a congratulation message on behalf of the participants in those actions.

The Day of Remembrance of Internationalist Soldiers unites not only veterans of the Afghan campaign, but also those who extinguished national conflicts in the Caucasus and Central Asia in the 1990s.

It's getting harder and harder to get ready. Previously, Afghan soldiers had at their disposal the Mosmetrostroy college in Yaroslavka. At one time, thujas were planted near the building and a memorial obelisk was erected.

“We are waiting for our corner for the council of veterans,” he continued. – We need a room where we can gather and continue our activities.

The RPO "Afghan-Metrostroy" plans to hold joint events with the organization of disabled war veterans in Afghanistan "Mayak", based in the North-Eastern district of the capital. The pandemic is preventing warm friendly meetings: some plans had to be “curtailed” due to the threat of the spread of coronavirus infection.

“We cannot risk the health of the parents of the victims, or even invite them to memorial events. This year they were not with us,” said Victor Corduban. – The Council of Veterans is also at risk. Therefore, we gathered in a narrow circle - there were about 50 people at the meeting.

Authors and performers of Afghan songs brightened up the conversation. The survivors honor the memory of the departed children and wish the current generations a peaceful sky above their heads.
