"Lubov" and "Elena" completed tunneling to "Aviamotornaya"

Construction of the right and left running tunnels between the stations "Lefortovo" and "Aviamotornaya" of the north-eastern section of the Big Circle Line has been completed. The Lyubov mechanized tunnel boring complex, which was responsible for the right tunnel, reached the surface on July 31, the second TBM, whose name is Elena, completed excavation on August 8.

Both mechanized tunnel boring complexes started last fall. Difficult tasks awaited them.

– “Lyubov” and “Elena” went under the road network of the Lefortovo district, existing non-residential buildings and the Kazan railway lines, said Sergei Zhukov, General Director of Mosmetrostroy. – In order to prevent subsidence or skewing of the rails during the passage of the shield under the tracks, special safety bags were used.

TPMK “Elena” – shield with hydraulic load. According to the head of the Tunnel-2001 section, Evgeniy Bibikov, it is precisely adapted for such conditions in which the builders passed three quarters of the route - through water-logged soils. Bibikov. “We passed safely, twice, under Aviamotornaya Street, under the territory of the plant that gave this street its name, under a kindergarten, in close proximity to multi-storey residential buildings on Energeticheskiy Proezd and, finally, under three railway tracks in the Kazan direction. There were no drawdowns anywhere along the route.

Evgeniy Bibikov also explained that in the area of site No. 3, fenced with soil-cement piles, the shield was stopped.

“Our caisson workers, under the leadership of Dmitry Dyuzhin, replaced the cutting tools,” said the head of the Tunnel-2001 section. – After that, no more stops were required until the breakdown. One can also note the efficient work of Sergei Zagorodnikov’s team that serviced the separation unit.

The TBM arrived at the finish line in working condition. After dismantling - following the “Lyubov” shield - it will be prepared for work at the next facility - most likely on one of the stages of the Big Circle Line of the metro.

REFERENCE

“Lefortovo” and “Aviamotornaya” are being constructed in an open pit at a depth of about 20 meters. They are designed in columns with island-type platforms. After their opening, transport accessibility for residents of the Lefortovo, Nekrasovka and Kosino-Ukhtomsky districts will improve, and the Kalininskaya and Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya lines of the Moscow Metro will also be unloaded.
