Marine will reduce cruising speed

The excavation of the left running tunnel of the connecting branch between the Kakhovskaya metro line and the Zamoskvoretskoye electric depot started on March 9 at construction site No. 18, located on Varshavskoe Highway. The Herrenknecht S-290 TBM with the name “Marina” will pass a difficult route 777 meters long and finish in the dismantling panel chamber between the Kakhovskaya and Varshavskaya stations.

The mechanized complex has already proven itself - a dozen stars on its metal casing are proof of this. Previously, Marina worked on the Sokolnicheskaya and Bolshaya Koltsevaya lines during the construction of stages in difficult geological conditions. Once again, the TBM must overcome water-saturated sands and loams.

“The Herrenknecht S-290 TBM has already passed through the neighboring tunnel, but this time the path will be 50 meters shorter,” said Alexey Arbuzov, contract manager of Mosmetrostroy JSC. – The fact is that this underground route is located a little higher than the previous one.

The shield will be carefully installed next to the active section of the metro. This time the proximity to the working city subway is higher. Additional organizational measures will be required, including during this section the miners will reduce the cruising speed of the TBM.

“We will carefully monitor the pressure in the system, especially during excavation near the reconstructed Varshavskaya station,” continued Alexey Arbuzov. – Also, Herrenknecht S-290 will pass under the Warsaw Highway. During excavation, soil will be supplied to the surface through an installed pipeline. This system operates specifically on TBMs with a hydraulic load.

The excavation is being carried out by Tunnel-2001 specialists under the leadership of site manager Evgeniy Bibikov. The work is planned to be completed in approximately four and a half months. In mid-summer, Marina will reach the dismantling chamber at site No. 16.2. Now a traction-step-down substation is being installed here.

After excavation of the section, five switches will be cut into the tunnel - they are necessary to complete the process of integrating the connecting line between the metro and the Zamoskvoretskoye electric depot.
