The Limited Liability Company “Mosmetrostroy Mechanization Department” (UMM LLC) accepts congratulations in March on its significant anniversary – its 90th anniversary.

The management and workshops are now located on Biryusinka Street. By the 90th anniversary, the team has 300 employees. 90% of them belong to a trade union. The organization is constantly working to train and improve the skills of employees. Young specialists participate in professional and sporting events, representing the Moscow Metrostroy at a high level. The team carefully preserves the history and traditions of UMM.
Limited liability company "Mosmetrostroy Mechanization Management" is part of the Mosmetrostroy JSC group of companies.
The organization was founded on March 20, 1932 on the basis of electromechanical workshops. This was necessary to master new technology, which began to replace manual labor. This year our organization turns 90 years old. The team had the great honor of working in the anniversary year. There are few organizations that can be proud of having worked for such a period.
The main activity of UMM LLC is providing the divisions of the Mosmetrostroy JSC group of companies with machines, mechanisms, and providing rental services for mining equipment.
One of the main sections of UMM LLC is the section of high-voltage networks and emergency dispatch service (ADS), which supplies all construction divisions of Mosmetrostroy with electricity. It is headed by the head of the section, Mikhail Kotin.
The largest in number is the section for service and repair of mining equipment (SO and RGPO), headed by the head of the section, Dmitry Lobankin. They are engaged in installation, dismantling, maintenance, and rehabilitation of mining equipment. They have four switchboards and peripheral equipment from Herrenknecht at their disposal. To work on these boards, you need to be highly qualified and experienced. Many employees of this site have higher education and completed internships in Germany.
In addition to renting machines and mechanisms (Igor Panov’s site), UMM LLC manufactures non-standard equipment. In close collaboration with the design department headed by Alexey Frantsuzov, the metal structures manufacturing section (UIMK) under the leadership of Anatoly Tretyak, the following mechanisms were invented and manufactured: a US-01 type block laying machine working in tandem with an ITS-312 combine, a crane for underground dismantling of panels from Herrenknecht, a vertical conveyor for delivering rock to the surface during operation panels, a mechanism for installing inclined slabs, various peripheral equipment for panels, rolling stock (trolleys, mortar trucks) and much more.
UMM LLC also provides control of compressor units (site manager - Sergey Kleschunov) and tower cranes (site manager - Evgeniy Artamonov). The brain center of the UMM is the management staff. This is a competent and erudite chief engineer Sergei Strelnikov and his deputies - Andrei Mikhailov, Akhmednabi Valiev, Sergei Omelchenko, as well as my deputy directors - Sergei Grulev, Magomed Magmedov, Yuri Menshin, as well as the manager's secretary - Olga Nepeina.
The head of the personnel department Svetlana Khlebnikova, who also works with young people, does an excellent job specialists. Competent specialists work in the production department, planning and economic department, production preparation department, IT department, OGM - these are Artem Panov, Olga Tikhonkikh, Dmitry Stryapunin, Valery Tokman, Yuri Taratynov. Head of the Labor and Wages Department – Yulia Guseva.
Большая нагрузка возлагается на финансовый блок – это Валентина Митрофанова, Ольга Соколова, главный бухгалтер – Татьяна Стручкова, начальник отдела труда и заработной платы – Юлия Гусева.
Many more worthy workers could be listed. Let those whom you did not name not be offended. They all deserve to be with us. We value and respect everyone. After all, first of all, UMM is a wonderful team, and as long as we are together, we will overcome all the difficulties that have arisen recently. I am confident that together with the General Director of Mosmetrostroy JSC Sergei Zhukov, his team and divisions of the group of companies we will overcome all difficulties.
Moscow Metrostroy is power!

Sergey Shkarin, Director of UMM LLC
PAGES OF HISTORY
The organization was transformed several times, its name and location changed, but the main function for 90 years remained the function of mechanizing the work of metro builders.
One of the first orders at Mosmetrostroy in 1931 was to create a department whose task was to coordinate electromechanical facilities at construction sites. There was a catastrophic shortage of equipment in the 30s; it was transferred between sites, and was serviced by the builders themselves. The electromechanical department took on the function of distributing across areas and servicing electric motors, pumps, compressors, transformers, etc.
With the growth of construction volumes and, accordingly, the amount of equipment, in 1932, the Office of Central Electromechanical Workshops was created under the electromechanical department. It began centralized repair of equipment and preparing it for installation.
At first, the team consisted of only six people, who were located in the premises of the mineral water plant on Krasnoprudnaya Street. Soon the workshops were moved to warehouses on Verkhnyaya Krasnoselskaya Street. There were already 25 specialists working here. They had two lathes and two drilling machines at their disposal. At the same time, mechanical and boiler-welding shops were built, which later employed 470 people. Electrical and mechanical installation groups, a plumbing group and a machinery operation department were organized.
After one of the mines was flooded due to an accident, a 24-hour emergency team was created at the Central Electromechanical Workshops. Experienced mechanics in its composition became the backbone of the organization.
A year later, in connection with the upcoming increase in electromechanical work, the Central Electromechanical Workshops were reorganized into Electromechanical Plant No. 2 (EVZ No. 2). It was here that the foundations were created and the powerful electromechanical base of Metrostroy was built up. Including the production of our own equipment.
At that time, at construction sites there was a need to carry out tunneling work using caissons, which meant that they needed their own powerful power grid, which Mosenergo could not provide at that time (including due to high emergency risks with abundant water inflow in the mines).
The compressors were installed and maintained by the site supervisors at their own peril and risk. There was a need for a single service that would take control of this large economy. In October 1933, an operational group was formed as part of the production department of the Metrostroy Administration; compressor stations, excavators, and steam boilers were transferred to it. It was called the Operations Service.
In 1935, during the launch of the first stage, EVZ No. 2 was transferred to the Moscow Metro, and its operation service became part of Plant No. 1 to carry out work on the second stage of construction.
In August 1935, from the system of plant No. 1, an independent Office for the Operation of Compressor Installations was created, which was entrusted with the maintenance of compressor stations, distribution points, transformer substations and high-voltage networks. The institution was called the Office for the Operation of Metrostroy Power Plants - CESU. An electrical service has been created on its basis, a mechanical service has been strengthened, and a mechanical emergency brigade has been further strengthened.
KESU's tasks became more and more numerous, and in 1938 it was reorganized into the machine rental base of Metrostroy. Its functions included maintaining all electrical equipment and monitoring its operation at facilities, overseeing the rational and safe use of electricity.
In 1945, in order to strengthen management of the operation of power and compressor units, rental and repair of equipment and construction mechanisms, by order of Metrostroy, the Machine Rolling Base was renamed the Office for Operation, Rental and Repair of Metrostroy Equipment - KEPRO. The team, in addition to the usual tasks, began to be entrusted with the production of non-standardized products for the installation of permanent subway devices. Every subway station had products made by CEPRO specialists, including unusual chandeliers and lamps.
Over the next five years, the organization added a small-scale mechanization section, operation of tower cranes, a section for the installation of mining complexes, a ventilation section and a mine-industrial sanitary laboratory.
In 1975, the enterprise received its current name - the Mosmetrostroy Mechanization Department.
