Four 95-meter-long escalator belts will soon take their places at the Rizhskaya station of the Big Circle Line (BKL) of the metro. Their installation is a labor-intensive and technically complex process that consists of several stages. Special metal structures - trusses - are lowered onto an inclined reinforced concrete foundation. Then they are joined by zones, aligned in height and center lines.
A special feature of the escalators installed at all stations of the north-eastern section of the Big Ring is a new type of steps. If previously they were framed metal, now the steps are lighter, made of solid aluminum.
Escalators will lower passengers from the lobby located under Rizhskaya Square to the central hall of the Rizhskaya station, which is being built at a depth of more than 60 meters. Currently, the openings have been opened here and work is underway to waterproof the station tunnels.
Previously, the builders installed waterproof umbrellas in the inclined passage. This element of architectural decoration is used in the construction of deep stations. It is placed in the upper part of the arch of escalator and station tunnels. Installation is carried out manually. The total area of installed aluminum panels was one thousand square meters.
BTW
Let us remind you that the Rizhskaya station will be connected by an interchange with the station of the same name on the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya metro line, the Rizhsky railway station and the MCD platforms. The station is part of the northeastern section of the Bolshaya Ring Road along with Sokolniki and Maryina Roshcha. It is planned to launch the movement here in 2022.
After the opening of all stations, the BKL will become the longest ring metro line in the world. Its length will be 70 kilometers. 31 stations will be opened on the line. From them it will be possible to make transfers to radial metro lines, the Moscow Central Circle, Moscow Central Diameters and radial railway lines.
