The longest escalators have been installed

At the Maryina Roshcha metro station under construction on the Big Circle Line (BCL) (project name – “Sheremetyevskaya”), the installation of escalators has been completed.

The longest escalators in the capital's metro will lower passengers to a depth of 64.5 meters. The length of the inclined course will be 130 meters. However, the builders assure that there were no special features during their installation, the work is quite familiar to SMU-24 specialists.

“The escalators were produced by a company from St. Petersburg,” explained the head of the SMU-24 section, Sergei Burtsev. – We worked in one shift, starting in mid-April. The base for the escalators was concreted by crews from SMU-8.

In May, it took two weeks to install the steel structures. Then came their inspection. First, we installed two escalators and set them up. After installing the balustrades and staircase, the next step will be the alignment of all systems and installation of handrails.

“We are finishing two more escalators,” said Burtsev. – It took five months to complete the full cycle of work. At its peak, 19 people worked on installation.

Lifting devices will deliver passengers from the lobby, located on the 5th passage of Maryina Roshcha, to the underground platform. Moving along the longest slope in the capital's subway, passengers may notice a new type of umbrellas - panels that cover the arched part of the tunnel. For the first time in the history of Mosmetrostroy, a new lining of the inclined passage was used.

“It is not made of fiberglass, but consists of aluminum panels,” noted Sergei Burtsev. “And, although they turned out to be more capricious in installation and heavier than their usual predecessors, such panels promise to be more durable and reliable in operation.

The fastening system remains the same: a “pin” is mounted near the tubing, which holds each panel. However, the complex geometric shape forced such work to be carried out much more carefully so as not to damage the parts.

At the same time, installation of engineering systems - lighting, ventilation, video surveillance - is underway in the lobby. The finishing here is almost complete.

“The lobby was built at ground level, and not as if “recessed” inside,” explained Sergei Burtsev. – This explains the length of the escalator.

In addition, work is underway on the transfer to the station of the same name on the Lyublinsko-Dmitrovskaya line. For now, SMU-8 crews are working here, which will be replaced in November of this year by workers and specialists from SMU-24 to deliver and install escalators at the transfer. However, here the length of the moving steps is not as long as on the main slope - only 14 meters.

“Maryina Roshcha” is a deep station; it is part of the northeastern section of the BCL that is under construction, which also includes the “Rizhskaya” and “Sokolniki” stations.
