On November 22, three tunnel-boring complexes (TBMs) completed the extension of the LDL, connecting Seligerskaya with the future Phystech station in the village of Severny.

The launch of three TBMs on one site is another historical event on Mosmetrostroy’s account. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin came to assess its scale.

– Drilling at the stations has been completed. Next comes the arrangement of pits and construction of stations. I hope that by the end of 2023 this entire section - from Seligerskaya to Fiztekh - will be commissioned, and the village of Severny will get its own metro station,” said the capital’s mayor.

All TBMs passed under the Dmitrovskoye Highway, and two of them passed under the security zone of the first route of the Moscow Central Diameters near the Mark and Lianozovo platforms. Two German ladies - “Tatiana” (Herrenknecht S-770) and “Irina” (Herrenknecht S-771) connected “Lianozovo” and “Fiztekh”, and the Canadian metal lady “Claudia” from the Lovat company even set a record by building her twelfth tunnel from the return dead-ends behind the existing “Seligerskaya” through the future "Yakhromskaya". The length of this underground route was 2.3 kilometers.

– When the shields passed under major highways, especially under the Moscow Ring Road, we organized monitoring. It was important to ensure that the TBMs went through without deformation or any movement,” Evgeniy Kostromenkov, head of the contract at Mosmetrostroy JSC, told the details. “There was only one difficulty—removing utilities from the construction site. This process slightly delayed the release of the three cars.

“Clavdia” had the hardest time - TPMK can already be called a veteran of the capital’s metro construction. And the TO-6 specialists decided to add power to it when the car had half a kilometer left to go to the finish line in the pit. In particular, carts from the German complex were docked to her. For the first time in world practice, a hybrid of Herrenknecht and Lovat was obtained.

“Tatyana” and “Irina” from “Lianozovo” to “Fiztekh” went through two regular stages; according to the breed, loams were most often encountered on their way. Specialists inspected both TBMs on time and changed cutting tools - approximately every 400 meters.
