The name of Pavel Kalinin is widely known in Mosmetrostroy. And not only because almost his entire 43-year career took place and continues to take place in the public, public sphere of activity. First of all, he is a true patriot of Metrostroy, who made a great contribution to preserving the history of the company, and never forgot that history is made by people.

Pavel Yuryevich was born into the family of a participant in the Great Patriotic War, the son of a regiment, a talented artist and writer, and took a lot from his father.

Kalinin came to Mosmetrostroy as an established man, having served in the army, worked in a mine and in high school. He started as a concrete worker, a mechanic, and later as a graphic designer at SMU-12. He immediately began collaborating with the newspaper Metrostroyevets, and in 1984 he was elected a member of the public editorial board.

In 1985, Kalinin was elected secretary of the SMU-12 party bureau, and in the late 1980s, deputy secretary of the Mosmetrostroy party committee. Even then, many saw that in front of them was not just a functionary, but a sincere and responsible worker, principled, but at the same time open to discussions, responsive and attentive to people. In the last “Gorbachev” years, the party committee actively supported Yu. A. Koshelev in his desire to prevent the collapse of Mosmetrostroy in the wake of centrifugal tendencies.

After graduating from the Institute of History and Archives (now Russian State University for the Humanities), he professionally studied history and political science, and even passed exams for graduate school. But Metrostroy did not let him go.

In December 1991, Kalinin, at the invitation of the head of the KSUM Nikolai Alekseevich Agapov, became his deputy for dormitories. At that time there were 22 dormitories, with 16.5 thousand residents and 400 employees. Kalinin’s responsibilities included: resolving housing issues, placing non-resident and foreign employees of contractors, and maintaining residential premises.

Since that time, his name has acquired a new meaning: the ability to work with people, feel their problems as if they were his own, strive for justice and find optimal solutions - all these qualities have earned Pavel Kalinin indisputable respect. For many years, thorough knowledge of the matter, experience and the desire to do more than is expected of him have worthily characterized the honorary worker of the housing and communal services of the city of Moscow, the honorary worker of Mosmetrostroy.

Today Pavel Kalinin is also known as the deputy chairman of the Council of War and Labor Veterans, freelance director of the Mosmetrostroy Museum, who has done a lot to preserve and replenish its funds.

Having become in 2016 the initiator and one of the organizers of the large exhibition “85 years of unique experience”, dedicated to the anniversary of Mosmetrostroy, Pavel Yuryevich almost anew, after 20 years of oblivion, showed the value of preserved museum exhibits and documents. And in subsequent years, he actively participated in the creation of various expositions and exhibitions dedicated to the glorious history of Mosmetrostroy. Thanks to Kalinin, in particular, it was possible to preserve paintings by metro artists from the 1930s–1950s, which can be seen in restored form in the museum on Tsvetnoy Boulevard, 17.

In November, Pavel Kalinin turned 65 years old.

The editors of the newspaper “Metrostroyevets” congratulate Pavel Yuryevich on his significant anniversary! We wish you longevity, spiritual harmony, good health. Let your professionalism and creative energy benefit our team for many years to come, and let the accumulated knowledge and experience be passed on to the young.
