The life and fate of Mikhail Malmyga is inextricably linked with Mosmetrostroy. In May he celebrates 75 years, of which 52 years he worked at SMU-8 of Metrostroy.
When Mikhail Vladimirovich entered the Moscow Technical School of Transport Construction, he did not know what a surveyor was and had a vague idea of what a surveyor does, but nevertheless he went to the specialty “Mine Surveying.”
He was assigned to practice at SMU-8, to the future leader, and then head of the site, Yuri Rakhmaninov. At that time, work was underway on the construction of the “Nogina Square” station, now “China City”. The year was 1970.
“I thought I’d work for two years.” We were building a transfer station then. There is a lot of water. Everything is covered in rubber. When I first went down there, I came out all wet, and I wasn’t so sure that I could hold out,” he laughs. - But I got used to it. Stayed for life.
Since then, he managed to take part in the construction of “Shchukinskaya”, “Babushkinskaya”, “Rimskaya”, “Trubnaya”, “Savelovskaya”, “Maryina Roshcha” and many many others.
There are drawings laid out on the table, modern theodolites on the shelf: in his office there is only the most necessary things. And, of course, a computer.
Now he has 13 shift surveyors and five district inspectors under his command. And there were times when their number reached 36.

Malmyga Mikhail Vladimirovich was born in the village of M. Sobakintsy, Vasilishsky district, Grodno region on May 8, 1948. Honored Builder of the Russian Federation. Chief surveyor of SMU-8 since 1987. Married, has two children, a granddaughter and a grandson.
The morning begins with a planning meeting via video conference, conducted by SMU-8 director Nikolai Sorokin. Issues that urgently need to be resolved by lunch are discussed. Cheerful and sociable in everyday life, Mikhail Vladimirovich is strict when it comes to work.
– What I value most in people is decency. I don't like dishonest people. But such people don’t stay with us. They leave on their own,” he says. - I was lucky. I got to work not only with good people, but also with high-class professionals.
He had a special relationship with SMU-8 from the very beginning. Many times he was offered to move to other companies for more favorable conditions and a high salary. They even called me to work in the top ten - the construction of secret facilities. But he didn't go. I couldn’t leave such a beloved team.
A surveyor, says Malmyga, is a person who is present at all stages of construction - from the first driven stake during excavation to the very start-up. It is the surveyor who submits the long-term storage as-built documentation to the operating organization. Based on it, it will be possible, for example, years later to build a transfer station.
It can be difficult underground. The work requires jeweler's precision. No deviation from the plan by even one centimeter is allowed. That is why Mikhail Vladimirovich demands strict discipline from his subordinates. The ever-increasing requirements for technical documentation also add to the complexity. It needs to be prepared for almost every 20 cubic meters of concrete. It takes a lot of time.
Despite all the difficulties, Mikhail Vladimirovich loves his job.
“Do what you love, because life goes by quickly,” he says with the smile of a man who is truly dedicated to his work.

Director of SMU-8 Nikolay Sorokin:
When I started working at SMU-8, Malmyga was a local surveyor at the construction of the Chertanovskaya station. It is important that the luminaries of the surveying business worked next to him: Popov, Debolsky, Presman, who passed on to him extensive practical experience and knowledge accumulated over the years. All this formed Mikhail Vladimirovich as one of the best specialist surveyors in Moscow Metrostroy. One of his characteristics is that he is gentle in personal communication, but demanding in production. When it comes to his area of work, he demands harshly, any attempts to negotiate are useless. He can't work any other way. He also devotes a lot of time to training young specialists. Thanks to him, our SMU has created one of the most qualified surveying services. For this dedication to his profession, for his knowledge and experience, decency and honesty, I appreciate and respect him.
SMU-8 Deputy Director for Production Alexander Medvedev:
I am grateful to Mikhail Vladimirovich for our 25 years of joint work. From the first days of our acquaintance, I noticed in him an amazing ability to unite the team. If he had to work after hours, none of his employees complained; they worked together. If Malmyga is given a task, he solves it, and in the highest degree of professionalism, as few people can now. When you meet such people, they fill you with positive emotions, faith in life and in people.
SMU-8 Deputy Director for Finance Natalya Petelina:
When I came to Mosmetrostroy in 2003, the first person who met me after the director was Mikhail Vladimirovich - competent, kind, attentive, always listens and gives advice, an excellent colleague and family man. He remains the same now. For this we appreciate and love him.

Head of the administrative and economic department of SMU-8 Vasily Mashninov:
I got a job at Metrostroy in 1972, and a year later I met Malmyga, we’ve been friends all our lives. The main thing in the work of “underground navigators” is the ability to make responsible decisions. During excavation, control is constant; all deviations must be recorded and eliminated. From his youth, Mikhail Vladimirovich was distinguished by his corrosive mind and ability to understand diagrams and drawings. This feature of his, as well as his organizational talent and communication skills, allowed him to become the chief surveyor in 1987 and work to this day.
Deputy Director of SMU-8 for Economics Irina Patrikeeva:
We have been working with Malmyga and his department for about 20 years. This is a professional with a capital P, an ace in his field. He leads the team skillfully and competently, and stands up for his own people. Mikhail Vladimirovich has trained more than one generation of highly qualified specialists who are grateful to him for instilling a love for the profession.
