Here they teach how to work: the technical school celebrated its 75th anniversary

Mosmetrostroy Technical School celebrated its anniversary on November 23. The Metrostroevets correspondent found out how to get there, how much time and money it will take to study, and how the classes will be useful for your career.

The course of lectures “Waterproofing of tunnels” begins in room No. 311.

– Water is a substance that will always find a hole. Chemical impurities in it, especially salts, can damage any waterproofing. Vibration can also damage the tunnel lining over time. The insulator’s task is to eliminate, or better yet prevent, the problem,” industrial training master Alexander Bufetov begins his lesson.

The class is filled with novices in underground work. But the development of the industry requires new knowledge from them. The training will last three weeks, and at the end of the classes, students will have an exam.

In parallel with the main course, the teacher explains the general concepts of metro construction. Using films and presentations, he shows what types of tunnels and linings there are, and how tubing is constructed. In the classroom, for clarity, there are mock-ups of construction projects and equipment.

At the lecture you can also learn professional slang: for example, find out what a “ram” is or how to “bring a bucket of current”.

HOW IS THE TECHNICAL SCHOOL SETUP

Metrostroy Technical School is the only organization in the capital with a license to teach underground work. In addition, there is educational material collected over the years on the construction of metro tunnels and teachers with extensive practical experience. Half of the specialists are on staff, the rest are contracted to give lectures on specific disciplines.

Training is divided into two stages: theory and practical training. Classes are held all year round, and you can choose a convenient form of attendance. Groups are formed when 15 people are recruited. Prices for the course are quite affordable - from 900 to 12,000 rubles (more detailed information is in the “Career” section on the official website of Mosmetrostroy).

If you submit the documents yourself, you will have to pay for training from your own wallet. Another option is to go to study from SMU, and then the organization will pay for the classes. In addition, the school gives discounts to Mosmetrostroy subsidiaries.

Many people come to study from outside organizations, for example, from the Moscow Metro. After graduation, specialists can count on career growth and salary increases.

In 2018, the school continues to develop. Recently, a new direction has emerged - the training of occupational safety specialists.

– Now the school faces a serious task - to pass the next certification of the Moscow Department of Education. Preparations for the test are already underway, says the director of the Technical School, Sergei Khodakovsky.

• During the Second World War, most of the subway builders went to the front. Mosmetrostroy is faced with a staff shortage. At the same time, vocational schools, where the construction profession was acquired in the pre-war years, began to close. In this situation, we decided to create a Technical School. The date of its foundation is November 23, 1943.
• The first graduating class of the Technical School consisted of 411 students. Among them were tracklayers, electricians, construction and tunnel foremen, welders, electromechanics, and drivers. The main test was the 90s. In 2001, only 58 students graduated. Gradually the situation improved. In 2017, 6,703 people were trained.
• Classes still take place in the building assigned to the school 75 years ago.
• The technical school remains the main source of personnel for Mosmetrostroy. 99% of chief engineers and directors of SMU were trained here, improved their qualifications or received certification.
