The shortest line of the city subway – Kakhovskaya – has been closed for five months. Reconstruction work is underway at Varshavskaya and Kakhovskaya stations. We tell you which ones in this issue of “Metrostroevets”.
This is what the Kakhovskaya platform looks like at present
The Kakhovskaya station closed before the Varshavskaya station. Inspections of the structures have already been carried out here, the lining on the platform part has been removed, the rails have been removed, and reinforced concrete structures are being erected.
The floor of the platform is more reminiscent of a waffle iron - the square cells are “covered” with reinforcement. It is being prepared for concreting - the base must be strong to support tens of thousands of passengers daily. Work on the monolith is going on around the clock. Three shifts were organized, 60 people were involved.
“We are concreting the side walls of the Kakhovskaya platform section, we have already completed 75 percent of the plan,” said the head of the MMC-International section, Alexander Valakh. “We plan to lay all the concrete by mid-April. This applies to both the walls and the platform itself.
It is necessary to work carefully on the foundation of Kakhovskaya - over the past half century, the station, as the builders admit, has become morally outdated.
“But we will definitely put it in order: we will dismantle dilapidated structures, erect new ones, we will do everything efficiently, according to modern standards,” promised Alexander Valakh.
At the same time, dismantling of the lining of the track walls is underway. Only after the rough work has been done will USR be able to begin finishing with granite. An image of the station will appear, which, after reconstruction, will be seen by passengers of the city subway as part of the Big Circle Line. At the same time, the appearance created in the late 1960s will be preserved.
– The color scheme of “Kakhovskaya” will not change: it will still have burgundy columns, panels on the track walls will remind the history of the revolution. All these images have faded over time, let’s make them a little brighter,” noted the site manager. – I think it will turn out to be a beautiful station.
MMC-International will remain at Kakhovskaya until the end of reconstruction, supervising the work of all contractors.
The Varshavskaya station, adjacent to Kakhovskaya, is just getting ready for large-scale work to begin here. The construction site is currently fenced. Tunnel-2001 began work. The main obstacle is the abundance of communications: the cable had to be redone, and disconnecting the old substation became an even greater difficulty. Builders are now waiting for electricity from the new facility. That's why they work one and a half shifts.
“After this, you can begin the full development of the pit, the installation of a tray and the installation of a tunneling shield,” said Anton Chemov, deputy head of the Tunnel-2001 section. – The mechanized complex will have to go to site No. 16, to Chongarsky Boulevard. This line will become a connecting line; it is being laid to integrate the Kakhovskaya line with the Greater Metro Ring.
Stroymekhservice will prepare the pit. Their first task will be the construction of enclosing structures. For this purpose, a drilling rig was brought to the construction site. The installation of the shield itself is scheduled for mid-summer. The TBM will have to cover a path 800 meters long.
