At the Kakhovskaya station, which will soon become part of the Big Circle Line of the metro, finishing work is underway. A Metrostroevets correspondent found out how to carry out reconstruction but leave historical elements in the appearance of the station.
"Kakhovskaya" is gradually acquiring a new look, without changing the old design to which passengers are accustomed
It was decided to keep the design of Kakhovskaya after reconstruction. We are talking only about replacing outdated facing materials. Specialists from MMC International and USR are working jointly on this task. The finishing of the platform is almost finished, the facing of the track walls is still in progress. They are finished with two types of stones: Sayan marble and labradorite granite on the subsystem.
– The floors of the platform are almost entirely covered with Siberian granite and labradorite. This work has been completed by 80 percent,” said Roman Baranov, head of section No. 2 of the USR.
– At the same time, we are installing a metal frame on the columns of the station; later they will be faced with labradorite granite and Rosso-Levante marble.
In the lobby, brickwork and a flight of stairs from the platform to the lobby are being installed. According to Baranov, about 30 specialists from the USR are involved in these types of work. The end of this stage is scheduled for the end of the year.
Despite the fact that this is a classic “centipede” - the type of station received this name back in Soviet times due to the number of pairs of columns, there are interesting details in the decor - the track walls are decorated with panels made of artistic casting on the theme of episodes of the civil war.
The octagonal columns are lined with red-brown marble, the track walls with white and crimson ceramic tiles, and the floor with gray granite. All these features of Kakhovskaya will be preserved.
Another important update in the reconstruction of the station is its complete engineering re-equipment and repair of tunnels.
“It was decided to shift the networks, replace outdated ones with modern systems,” said the head of the MMC International section, Alexander Valakh. - This is difficult work. Repairing the stages is also a difficult task - they have become very worn out during operation.
Numerous concrete chips need to be repaired. First, they are embroidered, then sanitized and then filled with repair compounds. Among the important tasks is eliminating leaks in tunnels. To do this, builders inject polyureatone resins and special gels into the lining.
Extensive renovations await the existing lobby. For the convenience of passengers, an additional entrance to the station will be made. The foundation pit for the new lobby is already ready. Concreting and reinforcement of the main structures will begin in the near future.
“The interior space of the lobbies will be converted to modern functionality, some of the technical premises will be expanded, and the areas for passengers will be redesigned,” Alexander Valakh shared his plans.
At the same time, the construction of the main structures of the pedestrian crossing to the Sevastopolskaya station is underway. The installation of ventilation branches has already been completed, and they plan to make the transition itself heated.
Currently, specialists have begun the construction of monolithic transition structures. In total, 110 people work at the site. Among the immediate tasks is to create the basis for the vestibule so that finishing workers can come to this part of the Kakhovskaya station in December.
BTW
Reconstruction work is also starting at the Kashirskaya station of the Kakhovskaya line. On September 12, it was partially closed to passengers. The work will last until next year.
