Kakhovskaya line is completely closed

The shortest line of the Moscow metro became unavailable for passengers on October 26. Active work has begun in two directions - dismantling equipment at stations and tracks and preparing for the construction of new tunnels for integration into the Big Circle.

The dismantling of the cladding has been completed at Kakhovskaya

At the beginning of October, Evgeniy Bibikov’s section from Tunnel-2001 moved to Kakhovskaya. Next spring they will begin digging two tunnels from the Zamoskvoretskoye electric depot to the ramp chamber between Kakhovskaya and Varshavskaya.

Before this, the Bibikov site will have to equip a site for the development of a pit - the future installation chamber. The tunneling starts from here. New tunnels will be built to replace existing ones, which have a small turning radius and do not meet modern construction standards.

– We are developing the territory: we are installing a fence around site No. 18, laying slabs. Ahead lies the removal of communications, supply of electricity and water,” Evgeniy shared his plans. – The demolition of garages in the adjacent territory was delayed, this interfered with full-fledged work. There are no offices or headquarters yet. We hold meetings in the Kakhovskaya lobby.

At the Kakhovskaya station itself, which was closed back in March, the old cladding was removed from the walls, columns, ceilings, platforms, cable communications and the upper structure of the tracks were removed. What kind of station this is can only be understood from the cast inserts with scenes from the Civil War that remain on the track walls.

– We are dismantling the Kakhovskaya lobby, dismantling the superstructure of the track at the station and in the stages. We dismantle the platform slabs, after which we will build a new platform. We are preparing two construction sites. One will become the command post for the reconstruction of the Kakhovskaya line. The second is the main working platform of the station, with its help the western vestibule of Kakhovskaya will be expanded, from the under-street passage of which it will be possible to go to the Sevastopolskaya station of the Serpukhovsko-Timiryazevskaya line, said Alexander Valakh, head of the MMC International section.  Also, the Alexandra section is working on site No. 13, where the T-38 traction substation is located, which needs to be expanded and increased in its capacity before being included in the Third Interchange Circuit.

Cut-off gates at the end of dead ends

Cut-off gates are being installed in the Kakhovskaya Line tunnels. All organizations involved in reconstruction are looking forward to them. Gates, the installation of which is carried out only two hours a day, in technological “windows”, will allow you to work in a certain area around the clock. In total, they plan to install 21 shut-off gates.
