After the launch of the new Rizhskaya station of the Big Circle Line, work continues at construction site No. 10. Construction of an inclined passage is underway on it, which will connect the deep metro station with the new vestibule. The length of the escalator tunnel will be 127.8 meters.
At the moment, there is one lobby for passengers at Rizhskaya. In this case, the design of the BKL station assumes the installation of a second entrance. It will be located near Vodoprovodny Lane, next to the Riga Market.
In July, the inclined ellipse was concreted and drilling of freezing wells began. This task was entrusted to Stroymekhservice. There are only 56 such wells along the contour of the tunnel being constructed. Then they dug a pit to install the half rings.
- The foremining is currently being built. We started installing the tubing on October 17th. At the moment, we are concreting them in order to mount an inclined block paver,” says Alexander Nevin, deputy head of the SMU-6 section of Metrostroy. – 12 half rings are already ready. Literally 5-6 left before the quicksand. Then we will start freezing for 47 days.
Freezing will be done using the brine method. It involves the use of concentrated solutions of calcium or sodium chloride as a coolant. The solution takes heat from the environment, heats up and returns to the refrigeration unit for re-cooling.
The excavation will take place in difficult soils. SMU-6 workers will manually pave the way for the future exit with a diameter of 10.5 meters using jackhammers.
Underground work is scheduled to begin soon. Metro construction workers, under the leadership of the head of the SMU-6 section, Nikolai Panov, will build three transfer passages to the existing Rizhskaya station of the BKL, a passage corridor with a diameter of 9.5 meters and a tension chamber with a diameter of 10.5 meters leading to the escalators. A large influx of water is expected, but builders are no strangers to this. It was under these conditions that the station itself was built.
The exit from the station is designed through the track wall of the right track. To do this, they will make an incision in cast iron tubes.
The walkers will guide passengers to the tension chamber and to a transfer to the station of the same name on the second Moscow Central Diameter (MCD-2). The second lobby and transfer hub will significantly reduce the time it takes passengers to access the stations. Thanks to the transfer to the MCD, travel will become more comfortable for residents and guests of the capital.
