At the Maryina Roshcha station (project name - Sheremetyevskaya) of the BCL, the expansion of the right station tunnel has been completed. Its diameter was increased from six to eight and a half meters.

The SMU-8 team is actively working to replace the temporary lining in the left pilot tunnel
The process itself is called “bulkheading”. After the shield tunneling, thanks to which the deepest section of the BKL from “Savelovskaya” to “Rizhskaya” was connected by stages, they began to expand the pilot tunnels. Tubing layers were used. Four vehicles were used back in September last year. In six months, the SMU-8 team completed the expansion of the right station tunnel.
– There were 200 rings in the temporary lining of the right station tunnel. “All of them have been dismantled,” said Alexey Matveev, head of section No. 3 of SMU-8. – Currently, 259 rings have been installed. The passage was carried out from two sides - from the 270th and 272nd pickets. An assembly chamber was built, and the teams completed 13 rings. Then a tubing layer with a diameter of 6 meters was installed. In place of the completed 13 rings, a second tube-laying machine was assembled, the task of which was to mount rings with a diameter of 8.5 meters.
The first tube layer, after digging through the installation chamber, began removing the temporary lining, and the machine following it installed permanent protection in the tunnel. Now crews are working on the left station tunnel.
“The difficulty lies in carrying out local drilling and blasting operations at great depths, construction in the zone of influence of the existing section of the metro,” explained Alexey Matveev. “To date, 95 rings out of 259 have been completed there. The system is the same: we replace the temporary lining with a permanent one, expanding the pilot tunnels,” he added.
Work is in full swing in the middle station hall. Mining is currently underway here, 199 of the planned 208 rings have been installed.
– Drilling and blasting work is underway in separate areas. “We have three ledges in total,” said Dmitry Faizrakhmanov, deputy chief engineer of SMU-8. – The rock is exploded, then the rings are installed.
He calls the greatest difficulty in rolling away the rock. Due to the depth of the future station, it is impossible to establish a constant flow of cars into which rock could be loaded and then delivered to the surface.
– The conditions are cramped, we can’t accommodate too many people - no more than 14 people per day. We export the rock like this: we bring in a mine trolley, load it, drive it away, and then bring in the next one,” he explained. – We use a diesel locomotive to roll the cars back to the “blind” shaft. Next, the rock is reloaded and delivered to a level of 22 meters. After this, the rock ends up at the mining complex near mine No. 946.
In the second half of April, openings in the right station tunnel will begin to open. In mid-summer, the same work will be carried out on the left side.

At the second Maryina Roshcha, builders are ready to set a world record - the longest inclined passage is being built here. Its length is 135 meters, it will become the longest not only in Moscow, but throughout the world. The inclined course at Maryina Roshcha has been nominated and may be included in the Guinness Book of Records.
