The approach adit is growing

The approach adit to the future Sheremetyevskaya station of the Third Interchange Circuit looks like a lived-in street - narrow-gauge railway tracks are laid along a flat tray, light bulbs shine from both walls. The specialists of Roman Ustrizhitsky’s site from SMU-8 have less than 400 meters to go from the 946th mine to the station out of 950 design ones.

At the end of the 2000s, it was Ustrizhitsky’s miners from the same mine who built exit chambers behind Maryina Roshcha, which was the end point for the Lyublinsko-Dmitrovskaya line. When they decided to move the metro further, its section was tasked with digging tunnels leading from Maryina Roshcha to Butyrskaya.

The underground workings of the new adit have a trapezoidal cross-section and are smaller in size than a conventional distillation tunnel. The height is only 3.8 meters. A thick, humming air duct pipe stretches under the ceiling. It gives the impression of space being reclaimed from the depths.

A few tens of meters in front of the face the picture is different. The tie of boards connecting the ribs of the steel arched adit is not a very reliable barrier to underground water. And the workers knead the whitish slurry that forms from the wetted rock with their boots.

The foreman of the tunnelers, Evgeny Naumov, is from the Rostov miners, he has 23 years of underground experience, including several years in Moscow.

– There is enough water, but this is a common thing. And the breeds are familiar. So we can cope,” says Naumov. – The adit in this place goes along a curve, the team is preparing to assemble the next frame.

In the drawing - in plan - the longitudinal axis of this station of the Third Interchange Circuit (TPC) is perpendicular to the axis of Maryina Roshcha. The approach adit was laid by the designers so as to cross the Lyublinsko-Dmitrovskaya line from above. And this intersection has already taken place.

– We passed over the existing stage without any problems. They worked carefully,” says Roman Ustrizhitsky. - There were no explosions. And this applies to the entire adit. The ITC tunnel boring machine is driven by UMM specialists from the Maxim Koleshko site. From us there are the tunneling teams of Evgeniy Naumov, Roman Popov, and Alexey Chebotarev.
