Balloons will decorate “Maryina Roshcha”

At the “Maryina Roshcha” station (project name – “Sheremetyevskaya”) of the Big Circle Metro Line, installation of inclined floor slabs is underway. We tell you what one of the deepest stations on the Big Ring will be like: what is happening at Maryina Roshcha now and what decoration it will receive later.

Maryina Roshcha is one of the most technically complex metro stations under construction in the capital. This is recognized by both city authorities and Moscow metro builders. A 130-meter-long inclined passage for four escalator lines has already been built here. They will transport passengers from the only concourse at this station to the island-type platform.

– The inclined passage has been completely completed and waterproofing work has been completed. The installation of floor slabs is currently underway. It is along them that the escalators will then “go,” said Dmitry Faizrakhmanov, deputy chief engineer of SMU-8. – A total of 87 slabs out of 122 were installed. We manage to lay from 12 to 15 pieces per day.

The process belongs to the category of high-risk work. The slabs are installed by a team of nine people and only during the daytime.

Work is also ongoing on the surface. A metal frame is already rising at the construction site - the basis for the future lobby. As Faizrakhmanov notes, the main premises of the four-story lobby have already been built. Its design will be unusual for the entire city subway. The main decoration will be rounded columns reminiscent of porcelain dishes, and huge balls will act as supports for the ground foyer. The technology for their manufacture is interesting: the balls are first specially aligned, made into hemispheres, and then sawn. One half will remain inside the lobby, and the other half will remain outside. A double-glazed window will be inserted between the halves of the ball, which will prevent the room from freezing.

“Currently the balls are in a separate workshop,” said Dmitry Faizrakhmanov. – The project itself is carried out by DS-engineering. For them, by next summer we will install metal structures that will hold the original parts of the future station.

The diameter of the balls will be 2.5 meters. The main material is polished stainless steel, blown under pressure with water. The thickness of the stainless steel is three millimeters, and each half with a subsystem weighs 350-370 kilograms. Installation of the spheres is scheduled for July 2021. Before this time, the builders will also finish cladding the lobby with sandwich panels.

Perforated panels will be placed on the ceilings of the entrance pavilion. They will facilitate the installation of ventilation, air conditioning and heat supply systems.

“Plastering work has already been completed on the lobby,” Dmitry continued.

– Currently, installation of electrical, ventilation and low-current systems is underway. In addition, the construction of step-down traction substations and a block of technical rooms is underway.

And here lies the second feature of Maryina Roshcha. For the first time, builders are constructing a four-story entrance hall along with a block of technical rooms and a traction and step-down substation. Typically, these engineering hearts of metro stations are located closer to the tunnels, underground. From the engineering point in the lobby, additional power of 10 kilovolts will go to the underground part of the station.

“Next month, the supply of equipment for SMU-24 will begin, which will install control cabinets for the traction substation,” Faizrakhmanov noted.

Large-scale work at Maryina Roshcha is also underway in the tunnels. Builders are waterproofing the approach workings from the side of two pickets - 270 and 272. The right station tunnel is also being excavated.

– The excavation is carried out using drilling and blasting operations with restrictions. They are carried out only in strictly designated areas,” said Alexey Matveev, head of section No. 3 of SMU-8. – Basically, metro builders use two tube layers. One of them “works” in pilot tunnels with a diameter of six meters, where the temporary lining between pickets is being removed.

Builders will have to dismantle 200 rings with a diameter of 6.5 meters along the right station tunnel and expand it. A second machine with a diameter of 8.5 meters helps to mount the rings. A total of 195 rings are planned for installation in the station tunnel.

“Currently, 43 rings have been supplied from the side of the 270th picket, and 48 from the side of the 272nd. We have also begun to develop a calotte,” continued Alexey Matveev. – Installation of the rings is scheduled for early December.

Mining continues at the station complex itself. In addition, construction workers are busy with waterproofing work and bolting replacements.

HELP

A picket is a numbered point on a route used to determine a position along a line. The distance between two pickets is 100 meters horizontally. In the Moscow Metro, the location of zero pickets is usually chosen in the middle of the line. This is due to the fact that Red Square, the zero kilometer, is traditionally taken as the starting point.
