The construction of the Maryina Roshcha station on the Big Circle Line (BKL) of the metro (project name - Sheremetyevskaya) has reached the home stretch. The progress of work was personally assessed by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
The northeastern section of the Great Ring is considered the most difficult. In the Maryina Roshcha area, builders have to work at serious depths - more than 70 meters. Nearby is the existing Lyublinsko-Dmitrovskaya metro line and the terminal of the future platform of the second Moscow Central Diameter.
The deepest station in Moscow was built using a closed method. Materials and equipment were delivered underground; people were lowered and lifted through mine shafts. Particularly large consignments of construction materials and equipment were transported through Sokolniki.

In the most difficult conditions, four of the longest escalators in the capital’s subway were installed at Maryina Roshcha. Passengers will travel 130 meters before reaching the platform.
– “Maryina Roshcha” is perhaps the most complex object of the Big Circle Metro Line - work here was carried out without opening, underground. Despite the difficulties, the station will be ready at the same time as all the others on the north-eastern section of the BCL,” Sergei Sobyanin was impressed by the work done by the metro builders.
There is only one lobby at Maryina Roshcha - it faces residential buildings and public transport stops. Its readiness is high: turnstiles and all decorative elements are installed at the entrance. By the way, they are made in the same concept: there are porcelain teapots on the platform, saucers on the escalator, and there are also tea cups.
The station has been undergoing finishing works since April. At first, the USR brigades were given a very small task of tiling the floors with granite and painting the premises. Over the past five months, the volume of work has increased significantly. After the floors, the finishers began working on the walls and installing metal frames for the installation of a decorative waterproof umbrella.

“With the joint efforts of granite workers, mechanics, plasterers and painters, we dressed Maryina Roshcha in its “outfit”, which we are not ashamed to show to management,” said Konstantin Degtyarev, head of section No. 4 of the USR.
The cladding of the pylons is nearing completion; they resemble pot-bellied porcelain teapots. This was the first time the finishers had encountered such work. To do this, it was necessary to insert light marble slabs into a metal frame. The weight of one stone, which needs to be fixed in a metal frame, reaches almost 120 kilograms. Four, and sometimes six people lifted such a block so that it took its place on the platform. It is simply impossible to place it anywhere else - each slab is numbered, has an original shape and its own individual pattern. You can compare it to a puzzle - only a specific detail will become part of the overall picture.
Achieving resemblance to the count's dishes of the past (namely, the entire design of the station was conceived in honor of the Sheremetyevs) is not easy. It’s as if a scattering of small cracks adorns each such element of the station’s decor. It is needed in order to “age” it. At the same time, the pattern is not interrupted from stone to stone.
It took about two weeks to decorate the first pylon. After the metro builders got their hands on it, things went faster. Another nine are finished in rows - the metal frames are filled evenly with marble.

At the same time, finishing of the ceilings is being completed. Three-layer panels are used, and some decorative umbrellas have an unusual shape. In the end walls along the middle hall they end in domes.
“We are using such an innovation for the first time,” Degtyarev shared. – Here the vault smoothly turns into a dome. The design is complex and requires a careful approach. In total, 1,800 square meters of panels are to be installed. Of these, 730 “squares” are in the middle hall, and 540 in the side halls.
The USR brigade also carried out a significant amount of work on the transfer between the Lyublinsko-Dmitrovskaya and Big Circle lines. Decorative umbrellas were also installed here, and the floors and walls were tiled.
– All the work is complex: each stone has its own characteristics, weight, dimensions, one might even say, character, the appearance of the entire station depends on it. All this requires professionalism from our people, who are in a hurry to please passengers with the original appearance of the station,” summarized the head of section No. 4.
