The three stations of the Big Circle will be united by a common architecture

The Maryina Roshcha and Rizhskaya stations of the northeastern section of the Big Circle Line (BCL) will have a single architectural concept. The track walls of the stations will be presented in the form of open tubes. A similar design has already been used at the Savelovskaya station of the Big Circle.

The architectural and finishing work of the track walls at the stations is nearing completion. Cast iron tubes will become a decorative decoration. According to the engineering design, they will emphasize the natural beauty of the metal. The area of each such plot is 1283 square meters.

For the first time, such a solution was used at the Savelovskaya BKL. On it, segments of the tunnel ring are open on track walls and pylons. Due to its unusual design, many passengers called it a loft-style station. The difficulty of the technique also lies in the more painstaking preparation of the tunnel ring segments for the final finishing option.

During the construction of Savelovskaya, it was decided to use a special method of cleaning structures. Water was supplied to the tubes under high pressure. It washed away excess dirt, making the surface suitable for painting. It was later protected with an anti-corrosion layer. After such powerful “water procedures,” the tubes are dried, degreased and painted in three layers, one of which is a primer. This protects cast iron from the effects of the external environment and increases the wear resistance and service life of structures, and the ribs of the tubing look more clear and prominent.

A similar technique was used at Maryina Roshcha of the Big Ring. And at the Riga BKL they used both water jetting and sandblasting equipment. The material processing process involves exposure to small abrasive quartz particles at high speed. After processing, the sand is collected and removed from the tunnel. This method of influencing the surface allows it to be cleaned much more effectively, which is used for more complex areas.

The Big Ring stations “Savelovskaya”, “Maryina Roshcha” and “Rizhskaya” are classic pylon-type stations. They are located at a depth of over 63 meters. This is due to the fact that the work is being carried out in an area of dense urban development, located under important urban communications networks and operating radial line stations of the same name.

When developing the appearance of Maryina Roshcha and Rizhskaya BKL, the architects chose an industrial look with references to the classics. At Maryina Roshcha BKL, the emphasis was placed on the pylons - they were given a convex shape and lined with marble slabs with a craquelure effect. This made it possible to create the feeling of an ancient estate. And at Rizhskaya they decided to combine fashionable high-tech and Romanesque style. Simple lines, a combination of granite, glass and metal, as well as the play of light create the illusion of open space. At the same time, both stations play on the contrast of delicate snow-white arches, platforms and columns with the industrial gloom of the track walls of naked tubing. This creates the feeling of a “floating” platform.

Builders are now installing lighting at stations. Light panels are mounted in cornices that will run along the platforms above the passenger waiting area. To do this, you need to prepare the tubes, drill holes in them for the embedded parts, mount the panels and fasteners, and only then install the lamps.
