General Director of JSC Mosmetrostroy Sergei Zhukov and Yuri Petrunin at the construction site
“I was born in the country of heroes,
Papan’s and metro builders...”
Yuri Yakovlevich Petrunin wrote these lines back in the 60s of the last century. Then he did not even imagine that fate would connect him with Mosmetrostroy for a long 25 years. During this time, readers of our newspaper have become accustomed to his reports from construction sites, where everyone is familiar with correspondent Petrunin - from ordinary workers to engineers. Before the journalist's eyes, tunnels and stations were born. He himself always believed that the main thing is people, real heroes, hard workers.
Even before Yuri Petrunin came to our newspaper, life incredibly brought him into contact with those who were associated with Mosmetrostroy. The acquaintance with the publication took place thanks to the pioneer builder and journalist Alexei Fomin. Petrunin had a chance to work with him in the magazine “Librarian”. It was Fomin who helped him understand the specifics of underground construction.
Technical training also helped out then - in 1962 Petrunin graduated from the electromechanical department of the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute named after M.I. Kalinina. Then, by assignment, he worked at the Special Design Bureau of the Cable Industry in the city of Mytishchi. Here he proved himself to be a talented engineer-inventor.
At the same time, since childhood, Yuri Yakovlevich was drawn to creativity, composing poetry. At Polytechnic he received his first journalistic experience. Here Petrunin was responsible for the wall printing sector, was the editor of the satirical newspaper “Rubilnik”, was involved in a literary circle at the editorial office of the large-circulation newspaper of the Institute “Polytechnic”, and was a member of the “Vyborg Side” association under the leadership of the poet of the front generation Vsevolod Azarov.
Later, already in Mytishchi, he was published in a local newspaper, wrote travel notes, essays about people of different professions. He also joined the Literary Association named after. Dmitry Kedrin (LITO) and entered the Literary Institute, which he graduated in 1969 with honors. During his studies, his mentor was the first metro builder, the Soviet poet Evgeny Dolmatovsky, and the reviewer of his thesis - the collection of poems “Winter Electric Trains” - was the poet Sergei Smirnov, who worked on the construction of Komsomolskaya.
In “Metrostroevets”, Petrunin’s circle of acquaintances among the builders of underground highways expanded significantly, the journalist plunged into everyday life of production, chronicling which for many years he chronicled on the pages of our newspaper. At the same time, the correspondent did not forget about creativity, continued to write poetry, taking all the amateur poets in Mosmetrostroy under his wing. It was he who authored the preface to the collection of poems by the pioneer builder of the Moscow metro, Konstantin Ratner, which was published in 2004.
With introductory words from Yuri Yakovlevich, books by more than thirty LITO participants were published. Petrunin has headed this association since 1966. He gathered around him poets, writers, bards and simply admirers of literary creativity.
Petrunin himself has several collections of poetry to his credit. In addition to “Winter Electric Trains”, these are “Hours of Swift Minutes”, “Working Morning”, “Support”, “The Temptation of Maturity”, “The Electric Train Sang Along with the Nightingale”. Also from his pen came the documentary book “Kedrintsy. Notes from the head of LITO" and many publications in collective collections and almanacs.
Yuri Petrunin is a member of the Union of Writers of Russia and the Union of Journalists of Russia. Became the first laureate of the Dmitry Kedrin “Architect” literary prize. Recently he was awarded the title “Honorary Citizen of the Mytishchi Urban District.”
