At the site of the mass grave near Vyazma, a memorial dedicated to the fallen metro construction soldiers will appear. Why is it important to look for missing soldiers and how does this affect the fate of living people, said the head of the “Memory of Metrostroy” detachment, Sergei Kulikov.
Memorials in honor of the fallen soldiers who once worked in the Moscow Metrostroy are erected not only by specialists, but also by ordinary children. For the burial near Vyazma, the teenagers themselves came up with the concept of the monument, brought flower beds to the site and erected a gazebo.
– The soldier’s grave, of course, will be modest. But our task is to show the children that the war did not take place near the Kremlin wall, but where people died,” said Sergei Kulikov. – There is no granite on the memorial, and there is no marble either. But we’ll do everything humanely.
Children from different schools, cities and towns also join the search party. Some of them are homeless children altogether.
– Previously, we recruited 2-3 children into our squad, growing up without a family. As practice has shown, these are the guys most adapted to life,” reflects Kulikov. “On our trips they grow up and learn to respect the past. Patriotism for them is not an empty phrase.
300 missing soldiers are found every year by the “Memory of Metrostroy” search team.
