This year our country and the whole world celebrates the 73rd anniversary of the Great Victory. More than seven decades have passed since the worst war in human history died down. The great feat of the heroes who defended not only their homeland, but the whole world from fascism will never be forgotten.
During the Great Patriotic War, there was not a single front where the metro builders fought. Together with all the people, yesterday's engineers, tunnel workers, mechanics, and foremen bravely fought the Nazi invaders, often at the cost of their own lives. Our Heroes defended Moscow and were among the first to enter Berlin. For their courage, 53 metro builders received the titles of Heroes of the Soviet Union, one Hero of the Russian Federation and 23 Heroes of Socialist Labor. To perpetuate the memory of them and to gain knowledge about the great history of their predecessors, the modern generation published the book “Metro-Building Heroes: Front and Rear.” I sincerely hope that the published publication will be a good help for many metro builders.
It has historically happened that people of our profession are the personification of courage, strength and valor in fulfilling their assigned tasks. On Victory Day, we not only remember the fallen, but also pay tribute to living veterans. Everyone, thanks to whom we can work freely today for the prosperity of our Fatherland.
I wish young specialists to be worthy successors of the best traditions and bear the proud name of metro builders with honor. Happy Great Day - Heroic Victory Day!
