We continue our traditional column “Frankly speaking.” Its heroes are employees of the Mosmetrostroy group of companies, who share their rules of life with readers and speak honestly about themselves. This time we talked with the General Director of Institute Inzhproekt LLC Alexey Kosygin. He told who his mentors were in the profession and why it is better to trust his wife with vacation planning.
Childhood took place in Khimki near Moscow. But the most vivid memories are trips to the Chelyabinsk region to the lakes and to Saratov on the Volga, to the Kaluga region, to visit my grandparents.
Father taught me to fish. From a very early age he held a fishing rod in his hands. Expensive ones in the store were out of reach, dad made my first one from a hazel branch, fishing line, with a goose feather float. The first catch was a hand-sized perch, it was an incredible joy, fantastic happiness.
In childhood it is worth trying everything that is available: sports, different hobbies. The standard set of a child of the Soviet era: riding a bicycle, a slingshot in hand, skis and skates in winter. At school I received my first adult level in skiing and went to training camps in Murmansk and Krasnoufimsk.
Human life consists of successful encounters. Each age has its own mentors. In childhood these are parents, in school they are teachers, in the army they are sergeants major, in college they are the director of materials and materials. It was he who turned me into an aspiring design engineer for industrial facilities. Already at work - Vladimir Biryukov, the manager who contributed to my development.
Favorite subjects – physics, algebra and geometry, hence the passion for design. The bet was placed on them, the rest turned out to be secondary. The most difficult exam at school is the Russian language, at the institute - theoretical mechanics. Sopromat, which is most often remembered with a shudder and scolded, went much easier.
I am an absolutely non-superstitious person. Signs, prejudices and speculations did not work for me and do not work. At the institute you could write cheat sheets. If you have pockets full of cheat sheets, and even if you don’t use them, you’ll definitely pass the test. After all, while you are writing, you are already remembering a lot. I believe more in my own strength.
Friendship can be carried through the years. When I was a child, I had many friends. There were companies in those cities and towns where he spent the summer, and at sports camps, and at school, and in the yard, at the institute, in the army and at work. There are few real ones left, but they are the most important. Such friendship does not rust.
The army is a school of life, which sets priorities within a person. After completing it, the young man understands what he really wants, what he can achieve himself, and in what direction he will have to move next. Correctly set tasks will lead to the realization of main goals.
The first impression of the construction site was completely childish and simple from the point of view of discovery. A house is a construction kit that is assembled from bricks and concrete. At the age of eight, I decided that I could assemble houses myself. This probably became the starting point when choosing a future profession.
I started as a technician at Mosproekt-3. This was after the army. The first object is a dovecote on the roof of a residential building. The first serious object is the Lyubertsy market. Next was Mosinzhproekt, where I worked as the head of workshop No. 16. We worked on transport hubs and development around metro stations. It is very exciting to connect architecture on the surface and underground. Then the team moved to PKB Inzhproekt. Among the unique, iconic objects: the concourse in Shcherbinka, the ski jump on Vorobyovy Gory, we continued the theme of the development of transport hubs.
The most difficult thing in leading a team is organizing the interaction of people. You always need to structure your work competently, be able to maintain good relationships in the team you manage, and be able to clearly set tasks. It is important for a leader to be a vector. It is both difficult and joyful at the same time. It makes you happy that people follow you, trust you, and make progress. There is no individual joy; in a team it is shared.
In the eyes of their subordinates all managers are strict. But severity should be precisely to the point, without unnecessary indulgences. A leader must be able to understand conflicts, but remember: there is no goal to punish the guilty, there is a goal - to find a way out of the current situation. The guilty person will make his own decision. If a person is superfluous in the team, then he himself will understand this and leave. I will never understand an irresponsible attitude towards work.
My experience as a manager is not that great, and I often listen to senior colleagues. Their advice can help not only me, but also other people in the team.
Each object in the city is unique. But there are those that I would like to redo. These are panel houses. You look at them and understand: this is architecture without architecture.
There are no regrets in life, but there is fear - for the family, for the children. It is natural for any person to worry about loved ones. I have two sons: the youngest is 4 years old, the eldest is 9 years old. I want everything to work out well for them in life.
With family we loveto travel, spend time at sea, go to the forest to pick mushrooms and berries, and go fishing. In winter we go ice skating and skiing. But I like to trust my wife to plan my vacation.
At work you have to be constantly on edge, but at home you want to trust the one who knows the whole family best. The wife knows how to prioritize in these matters. If I am the arms and shoulders for the family, she is the bridge that connects everyone at home.
From my favorite books I would name “Children of the Arbat”, “Secrets of the Leader’s Advisor”, I like to read Dovlatov. Favorite movie: “In August '44.” For music I prefer jazz. We like to go to theaters – “Satyricon” and “Lenkom”.
Dream – it is a dream, everyone has it. And you can’t talk about her. This is very intimate and personal.
