Sergey Kamyshov: my mother wanted me to become a doctor
We continue the “Frankly speaking” section. Its heroes are employees of the Mosmetrostroy group of companies, who share their rules of life with readers and speak honestly about themselves. This time we talked with the deputy general director of the company, Sergei Kamyshov (pictured). He remembered his youth in Tashkent and told why students were evicted from the dormitory of the Mining Institute.
- I was born in Tashkent. Then he lived in Almalyk. Many years later I came to my father’s house, stood there, a tear rolled down my face.
- 17 years I lived in communism - Almalyk was supplied by Moscow. We didn’t know what a deficit was.
- As a teenager, I decided that I would definitely build a metro. My parents were against it: my mother wanted me to become a doctor, and my father wanted me to become an accountant. I didn't back down. In 1972, construction of the first stage began in Tashkent, they started talking about the metro in Yerevan - this spurred me on. Entered the Mining Institute. My father later praised me for my perseverance.
- Immediately after graduating from university, I was assigned to the Tuva Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic to work in a cobalt mine. The teacher said that I would return home a millionaire. But at that time I didn't need it. Mom helped, and I went to Tashmetrostroy.
- If I, God forbid, became president, the first thing I would do was change the laws in capital construction. I would go back to how it was in Soviet times.
- Stern became my second father. He appointed me head of SMU.
- It was easy for me to move to Mosmetrostroy. The traditions of Tashmetrostroy came from the capital.
- Nobody believes, but I am an Armenian. My wife is the only one in our family who is not of Armenian origin. She is Greek.
- The father-in-law was the seventh child in the family. I told him: “Dad, your father had six smart children, and the seventh was a partisan.” In his youth, he joined the people's liberation movement in Greece.
- Every construction site opens up something new for me. The construction of the Serebryanoborsky tunnel was one of the most ambitious in life. After him, I grew up as a builder.
- The main thing is not to be afraid to ask. The ability to ask questions often helped me out.
- Once I got to the foreman Ivan Lysy. Some people are natural artists, but he is a natural foreman. He did not receive the title of Hero of Socialist Labor only because he did not join the party.
- Bald kept a notebook with a list of fines. If someone forgot to return a crowbar or shovel after a shift, they were blacklisted. From these people he recruited a team to work on weekends.
- When I hand over another project, I feel that I will soon be able to get some sleep.
- I didn’t serve, but I passed the military department. I'm a reserve officer. Peaceful specialty - builder, military - explosives. We can both break and build.
- Study at the institute began on October 1st. If a student did not have time to make repairs in the room before the 20th, he was evicted.
- I have a passion for collecting, my wife is already clutching her head. I collect keychains, toy cars, badges, airplane models and books.
- If I won a large sum in the lottery, I would pay off my son’s mortgage and leave some of the money to live off the interest. The rest goes to the orphanage.
