Sergey Khodakovsky: there are no good bosses
We continue the “Frankly speaking” section. Its heroes are employees of the Mosmetrostroy group of companies, who share the rules of life with readers and speak honestly about themselves. This time we talked with the general director of the ANO DPO “Technical Schools of Mosmetrostroy” Sergei Khodakovsky. He told me what he does twice a year in St. Petersburg and why he needs a mountain bike.
- I was born in Kazakhstan, but I can’t call it my homeland. All relatives live in Ukraine.
- My parents once went to Kazakhstan on a Komsomol trip to raise virgin soil, and they met there. When I was five years old, we returned to my native Kirovograd, where I grew up.
- I was a restless child, I could bring a frog to class, tie a braid to a classmate’s chair, and fight. At the same time, studying was easy.
- As a child, I dreamed of becoming a military man. After the eighth grade, I tried to enter the Suvorov School in Kyiv. But inflamed tonsils got in the way. Now I understand that it’s for the better.
- My father is a driver by profession, he instilled in me a love for technology. And I decided to become a mechanic.
- After the army, the company commander suggested going to the Frunze Military School in St. Petersburg. I decided to try it, besides I really wanted to see St. Petersburg. I entered and became a railway engineer. Later he graduated from the Military Academy of Logistics and Transport here.
- St. Petersburg has become another hometown for seven years of study. I go there twice a year for a couple of days, walking the streets. The metro there is not as beautiful as in Moscow, but the city itself is calmer, the people are kinder.
- I collect edged weapons. It all started before the army, when a neighbor in the country gave me an old broadsword. The second exhibit was a Cossack saber.
- Served in the Amur region, Khakassia, Volgograd, and Chechnya. Everywhere he expanded his collection of weapons, which now contains more than thirty weapons. I bought something, exchanged something.
- I first met the metro builders in Moscow, when I was the chief mechanic at JSC Transmonolit. We worked together on the Lefortovo tunnel. In those days, I gained respect for the construction profession.
- I am proud that I was able to fulfill the task set by the management of Mosmetrostroy to revive the Technical School. The number of students has increased many times, we have reached self-sufficiency.
- There are no good bosses. There are bad and fair.
- The ability to keep my word is my main advantage. If I promise something, I will fulfill it, even if it is to my detriment.
- The old housekeeper has always been with me for 20 years. I wanted to change it many times, but it didn’t work out. You could say that this is my talisman.
- I like to do things with my own hands. Now I live in my own house, I repair everything myself, I learned how to lay laminate flooring and plaster. My son helps me.
- I ride a bike for fun, every evening in the summer, to the store or through the forest. I have a mountain one now. Once upon a time before the army, while still in technical school, I was a master of sports. Participated in competitions and won. They say he rode well.
- In life I am grateful to my parents for their support and to my cycling coach. His words before the race always stay with me: “He is a human being, just like you. Be patient and you will win!”.
- I have no idols. I never tried to be like anyone.
- It’s bad for those who don’t have dreams. I dream of finishing the house and transferring my parents here from Ukraine. My sister lives here, I want the family to be reunited.
