Vasily Lomakin: chose the service for himself
We continue the “Frankly speaking” section. Its heroes are employees of the Mosmetrostroy group of companies, who share the rules of life with readers and speak honestly about themselves. This time we talked with Vasily Lomakin, Deputy General Director for General Issues and Interaction with Government Authorities. He told me what book he carries to official meetings and where he got his Makarov pistol from.
- I was an obedient child. My father is a military man, discipline reigned in the family. Hooliganism was not accepted.
- My grandfather fought, had awards, my father also served for a long time. And I chose the service for myself. I entered the Kemerovo Higher Military School of Communications near my home.
- During the years of service I developed a daily routine, which I still adhere to now. And the increased responsibility still doesn’t allow me to relax. I go to work even on weekends to keep everything under control.
- The most valuable rewards for me are those that involved risking my life. In the 1990s, I was appointed deputy commander of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs group for general issues in the Chechen Republic. We completed the assigned tasks with the team and returned without losses. For fulfilling his duty, he received the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, II degree, from the President and the Makarov award pistol from the Minister of Internal Affairs.
- My hometown – Kemerovo. I always wanted to return here, no matter where I served.
- Moscow scared with its bustle. But then you get used to this rhythm. Now I regret that I didn’t move earlier.
- Moscow Metro Construction became the first entry in my work book and work in a civilian position.
- My secret productive communication with government officials is proper explanatory work.
- If a conflict arises concerning our company, first of all I take with me a book about the Moscow Metro Construction, put it on the table, open it and tell the story. Many people do not know that we have an organization that dates back to the 30s of the 20th century, with a worldwide reputation and military orders. People get into it, get into the situation.
- I don’t collect rumors about colleagues. I try to take a closer look myself and draw conclusions, assessing the person in action.
- I dream to work longer and be needed and useful. The worst thing is to become unclaimed, ballast.
- For security in the capital's metro I would like to install personal recognition equipment at all stages: entrances, ticket offices, turnstiles, boarding the train. This would prevent many crimes.
- I love films 1920 – 1930s, related to the civil war and the formation of Soviet power in the republics. It’s a pleasure to watch military commissars at work and the attitude of the Russian people towards them.
- Personal example, which I would like to emulate, is actor Vasily Lanovoy.
- I believe in omens. I never put my headdress on the table, I don’t keep it upside down. Otherwise there will be neither money nor luck.
- For me, February 23 is a day of congratulations, the phone has been ringing since six in the morning. On this holiday, I always prepare a table for my subordinates and treat them.
