Pride of metro builders

Friends, we are opening a new section dedicated to the exhibits of our museum. Today we will talk about the bust of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, engineer, designer, inventor of the 19th century.

The bust of Brunel is an award from Mosmetrostroy for the reconstruction of the Vladivostok Stalin Tunnel of the Far Eastern Railway. In three years, metro builders were able not only to restore the tunnel, built in 1935 and which was in an emergency condition, but also to concentrate in it the most modern solutions in the field of underground construction. The reconstruction project was presented at the annual conference of the World Tunnel Association in the USA and won the competition in the category “Best completed project of 2019 worth up to 50 million euros”, beating 90 applicants from the UK, Singapore and other countries.

The museum under the Mosmetrostroy administration is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10.30 to 15.30. Admission is free.
