At the site near the Russian Army Theater on Suvorovskaya Square in the capital, work continues on the construction of the new, 13th, station "Dostoevskaya" of the Circle Line of the metro.

On April 2, the VSM-10000 “Ekaterina” shaft boring machine began sinking a vertical shaft for ventilation of the station complex. The day before, a specially invited priest consecrated the tunneling complex. During the construction of the Dostoevskaya station, metro builders will use the shaft to optimize the production process and transport materials and equipment.

The depth of the future mine is 44 meters, the soil is excavated by a Herrenknecht shaft boring complex equipped with a milling drum with a cutting tool. The ventilation shaft will consist of 44 permanent and two temporary reinforced concrete rings with a diameter of 6.4 meters and a height of one meter each. Mechanized excavation and installation of permanent lining will be carried out simultaneously, which, according to the chief engineer of SMU-8 Metrostroy Evgeniy Shmakov, will not only reduce labor costs, significantly reducing construction time, but will also simultaneously increase the accuracy and safety of the work.

– Before the start of excavation, SMU-8 workers assembled a shaft boring complex using modular technology - ready-made elements delivered to the site were quickly assembled using special equipment and lifting structures, connected to control systems and tested for prompt commissioning, Evgeniy Shmakov told Metrostroevets.

“Ekaterina” is one of the most experienced and proven vertical shaft boring machines, for her this is already the twentieth mine shaft in the Russian capital. Previously, it built seven ventilation shafts in the north of the Lyublinsko-Dmitrovskaya line and 12 shafts for ventilation chambers, drainage installations and cable collectors on the Big Circle Line of the Moscow Metro, covering more than a kilometer of Moscow soil in total. Therefore, she is no stranger to new labor feats - she will succeed this time too. And we wish “Ekaterina” good luck in her difficult work!

The work of “Dostoevskaya” is carried out in dense urban areas, which required special engineering solutions. The builders will have to remove more than 1.5 thousand cubic meters of soil - it will be removed and processed according to environmental standards. For the construction of the station complex, seven shafts for various purposes will be built, two of them are already in operation. All tasks are successfully completed by experienced specialists from SMU-6, SMU-8 and Stroymekhservice Metrostroy.
