The day before 2019, another station of the Big Circle Line opened in the capital. The launch of the Savelovskaya BKL turned out to be truly festive - with a Christmas tree, happy smiles and New Year's wishes. In addition, the event became a kind of anniversary gift: three decades ago, the Serpukhovsko-Timiryazevskaya line station with the same name opened its doors.
While the capital was preparing for the New Year holidays, metro builders continued their difficult work. On the morning of December 30, the view of the surroundings of the Savelovsky station changed. The entrances to the new station of the Big Circle Line were already waiting to be opened.
Her first lobby is a kind of dedication to passengers. The decorative panels installed above the inclined arch depict people walking around the city. Having gone down the escalator, you find yourself in a spacious approach corridor. The feeling of being in the subway disappears. Thanks to the white glow of the backlight, the space visually seems to expand.
In the central hall there is a decorated Christmas tree. Next to her, the mayor of the capital Sergei Sobyanin congratulates the townspeople on the opening of the new station:
– This is the 17th station this year. A record in the entire history of the capital's metro. Today I would like to thank the metro builders for their work, for the enormous work they have done for the benefit of Moscow and Muscovites.
Then the mayor invites those present at the launch to take a ride to the next BCL station “Petrovsky Park”.
The new “Savelovskaya” became a double reminder. First of all, about the difficult conditions in which the workers built the deep station. Passengers will be told about this by cast iron tubes on the track walls and pylons, which they deliberately did not hide.
– “Savelovskaya” is one of the most difficult stations on the Big Circle metro line. It was built on the territory of a densely populated area, in water-saturated soils at a depth of more than 65 meters,” notes Sergei Zhukov, General Director of Mosmetrostroy JSC. – It’s like going underground and building a multi-storey building there.
The gray color scheme of the decoration is reminiscent of the station of the same name on the Serpukhovsko-Timiryazevskaya line, which also opened on New Year’s Eve - December 31, 1988.
Now you can get from Savelovsky station to the CSKA and Dynamo stadiums, the international business center, without transfers center "Moscow City" and to New Moscow. It is expected that the passenger flow of the transport hub, which will include the sixth BKL station, will be about 245 thousand people per day. The area around the exit to the Savelovsky station (entrance hall No. 2) was being prepared for the launch of the Tunnel-2001 station. The work was carried out in a short time frame around the clock. 30 workers, 10 machine operators and 8 engineering staff worked simultaneously per shift. For the opening of the station, the area in front of the pavilion was cleared, the base was prepared for the tiled covering, and 350 m² were paved with granite slabs. We provided access to elevators for groups of citizens with limited mobility.
The finishing of “Savelovskaya” was carried out by JSC “USR Mosmetrostroy”. In May 2017, the organization began preliminary work. Finishers dismantled fiberglass umbrellas at the operating station of the Serpukhovsko-Timiryazevskaya line. We moved on to the main stage in July 2018. USR workers lined the floors, walls and pylons with natural stone; installed waterproof decorative aluminum umbrellas along the middle, right and left station tunnels, approach corridors No. 1 and No. 2, distribution hall No. 1 and leading to the transfer; installed fiberglass umbrellas along all three inclined passages of the station; installed slatted suspended ceilings in lobbies No. 1 and No. 2; carried out painting work; decorated the facades of the staircase and elevator pavilions with natural stone, as well as the facades of the upper ventilation kiosk.
