Good news arrived to us on April 3 from the Republic of Serbia. The right tunnel on the Stara Pazova – Novi Sad railway section was broken. The tunnel, 1086.5 meters long, took two years to construct using the mountain method. The builders walked simultaneously from the southern and northern portals towards each other.

“2/3 of the route of the right tunnel has been completed from the south, 1/3 from the north,” said Andrei Loiko, deputy director of the MMC International Belgrade branch. “This disruption has become a landmark event for us in the development of infrastructure in Serbia. Tunneling on the road from Belgrade to Hungary is one of the main stages of the highway construction project.
Indeed, people in Serbia were waiting for this event. It became a big holiday. Due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation in the world, we observed the significant moment with a limited number of participants.
Breakdown in the left tunnel, which will be 1156 meters long, is scheduled for June 2020. The tunnel route was laid in difficult mining and geological conditions with landslide zones and unstable water-logged soils. To strengthen the soil mass on the portals, anti-landslide measures were provided with the construction of a cascade of supporting structures from bored piles united by grillages.
Also, MMC International employees are involved in the construction of artificial structures (ISS). At the moment, the construction of a water well in Indzhia for the city water supply system, 25 culverts, two underground pedestrian crossings and one underground pedestrian and bicycle crossing have been completed.

Construction is underway of two road overpasses, one underground pedestrian crossing and three culverts, as well as the construction of an underground tunnel-type road overpass. The construction of one culvert, three underground tunnel-type road overpasses and two railway bridges is still ahead.
