The main structures of the vestibule of the "Riga" large circle line are ready

At the only “Rizhskaya” vestibule of the northeastern section of the Big Circle Line of the capital’s metro (project name “Rzhevskaya”), the construction of the main structures is being completed by SMU-6 specialists. At the same time, construction of a pedestrian exit is underway. Through it, passengers from the Rizhsky Station square will get to the ticket office and then to the platform of the future Big Ring station.

The total volume of reinforced concrete work performed on the lobby amounted to nine thousand cubic meters. By summer, builders should begin erecting ventilation kiosks, finishing technical premises - and begin bricklaying and plastering work. In addition, crews will have to waterproof the floors.

– Our specialists work around the clock. A total of 240 people are involved,” said Vladimir Kupryashkin, head of section No. 3 of SMU-6. – Builders are also working in another part of the station – on the inclined track. As of today, only one opening remains to be constructed for the installation of escalator equipment.

In the future, the inclined course will be equipped with four escalators 84 meters long, which is 112 rings. They plan to begin their installation in August of this year. Now the foundation for the floor slabs is being laid here. Currently, these reinforced concrete works are 50 percent completed.

The decorative and artistic design of the lobby will continue the basic architectural concept of the entire station complex - the “portal to the city.” The fundamental element will be the arch, which accentuates the entrance to the ground glass pavilion and as a repeating detail in the openings of the central hall of the station.

Let us remind you that Rizhskaya is a deep station on the Big Ring. It is located on the territory of the former Riga Radio Market and the Rizhsky Station Square. At the “Rizhskaya” BCL there will be a transfer with the station of the same name on the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya line. The opening is planned as part of the Elektrozavodskaya – Savelovskaya section.
