Reconstruction of the Kashirskaya station is being completed. After completion of the work, it will become part of the Big Circle Metro Line (BKL).

Just three years ago, Kashirskaya belonged to the shortest line of the capital’s subway, Kakhovskaya. In 2019, the authorities decided to make it and its two “neighbors” - Kakhovskaya and Varshavskaya - one of the sections of the Greater Metro Ring. In order to become part of the world record holder (and the Moscow BKL will overtake the Beijing underground ring in its length by 13 kilometers - editor's note), the builders had to work hard. The specialists of the Mosmetrostroy Group of Companies coped with the main task of creating a modern subway facility with a completely new “filling”: security systems and utility networks, convenient services for passengers, using the same dimensions and structures. To accommodate them, some rooms had to be dismantled and combined. The idea was approved and the project passed state examination.
The work was greatly complicated by the proximity of the existing metro - halves of two stations (and here a cross-platform transfer) continued to serve trains of the Zamoskvoretskaya line. In one of the closed lobbies, the old filling was completely dismantled and a new one was carefully “inserted”. Work was also done on the platform itself and in the office premises of the station complex.
However, despite the restructuring, the appearance of Kashirskaya will remain recognizable. Her stone “outfit” was changed to a new one, leaving the same color scheme. The embossed panels that decorated the walls of the station were restored and returned to their place.
They also decided to expand the lobbies: after all, the station as part of the BKL promises to handle a large passenger flow - up to 70 thousand people. To date, work has already been completed on the cladding of the northern and southern platforms, as well as the western vestibule.
Before the reconstruction, the wait for a train at Kashirskaya reached 6-10 minutes. After its inclusion in the BCL, the movement interval will be reduced to one and a half minutes. It will be possible to cross dozens of districts in transit along the Big Ring Road, avoiding unnecessary transfers. Travel time will be reduced by at least half.
