This is a chronicle of the construction of the capital's metro. This is what they say about the newspaper “Metrostroyevets”. The anniversary issue came out today. Just like exactly 90 years ago, the key topics are the readiness of new stations, reports from the construction site and the everyday life of metro construction workers.
The creation of a four-page publication begins with a traditional meeting, at which the topics of the next articles are discussed, their placement and the authors are determined. Now the editorial office has two permanent authors - Anastasia Klyuchareva and Vasilisa Chernyavskaya. They are corrected by their editor-in-chief Olga Demyanova. There is also a photographer on staff, Alexander Popov, who is affectionately known in the team as our little star. He has been photographing the construction of the metro for more than 20 years and literally lives by this topic.
The main task of the editors is to provide verified, accurate, expanded information on the construction of the metro, because the readers are professionals. Often the publications of “Metrostroevets” become news feeds for other printed publications. Editorial and press service employees are always on the lookout for what is happening at the company’s construction sites, and they are assisted in this by project managers, site supervisors, foremen and workers. Information is also drawn from official company reports and operational meetings.
On the editor-in-chief’s desk, like a guidebook, are files of anniversary issues of Metrostroevets with signatures 1937, 1942, 1947, 1952, 1957, 1962, 1967, 1972, 1977, 1982, 1987, 1992, 1997, 2002, 2007, 2012, 2017... and now the 18th anniversary - 2022. Completely different eras, but what similar headlines: here is a note about the readiness of the pit, the output of the switchboard, the launch of a line, a station. And here are sketches of a metro builder. Using editorials you can study the history of a country or city. The opening of the first line with a portrait of Stalin, Khrushchev's centipede, a technological breakthrough under Brezhnev... and even restrictions during the coronavirus period.
The layout designer, a fragile girl, Olga Konovalova, is responsible for the appearance of the newspaper; only a few know what she looks like. In her hands, journalists' materials take shape. Colors, fonts, photo size – every little detail is important.
The newspaper has loyal friends and regular readers who are tirelessly interested in the “life” of the editorial office and are always ready to help. These are Pavel Kalinin, Anatoly Adadurov, Boris Prigoda and, of course, veterans of the Moscow metro construction. One of the most dear readers, who always pleases his colleagues with feedback, is Yuri Petrunin. He worked at Metrostroevets for 25 years and joined the newspaper in 1994. Together with the publication, it experienced a real technological revolution: video communications, the Internet and computer publishing. Then we had to work under completely different conditions.
The modern “Metrostroyevets” is not only a newspaper in paper, but also in numbers - all the latest issues are posted on the company’s website and a whole page dedicated to the newspaper opens. Each issue is read by more than 12 thousand people. New issues of the newspaper are delivered monthly to Roskomnadzor, the Russian State Library and ITAR-TASS, to the construction sites of Mosmetrostroy and are placed in the lobby of the Directorate. On the first days of each month, the editor-in-chief, with special trepidation, signs envelopes for veterans, into which he encloses the latest issues of Metrostroevets. Today these are only printed copies of the anniversary issue of the newspaper, the first readers of which were you, dear metro builders!
From the editor-in-chief
Dear readers! Our favorite newspaper has passed the grand milestone - 90 years since the publication of the first issue! All these years we have been walking hand in hand with the Moscow Metrostroy, telling on our pages about important milestones in the development of the organization. Our files contain the names and photographs of the pioneers who built the most beautiful metro in the world, important details in the history of the development of the organization and its social life.
The years passed, the country changed, going through different stages, and the Moscow metro construction also changed. But many traditions were preserved, including the publication of a printed version of the Metrostroevets newspaper. For this, we thank, first of all, the current management of the company in the person of General Director Sergei Anatolyevich Zhukov!
On behalf of the entire editorial board, I would also like to thank the management of our subsidiaries, workers at production sites, the Council of Veterans and the Council of Young Professionals for their assistance in creating the newspaper’s materials.
I would like to note congratulations on the occasion of the 90th anniversary from our readers! The editors received especially touching messages from the employees of Stroimekhservis and KSUM. Thank you for your sincere interest in the Metrostroyevets newspaper! Thank you for being with us all these years! We will try to continue to be chroniclers of the exploits of our builders!
Olga Demyanova,
chief editor of the newspaper "Metrostroyevets"
