Tension chamber is ready at Sheremetyevskaya

At the future Sheremetyevskaya station of the Big Circle Line SMU-8, the excavation of the tension chamber was completed. Very soon it will connect the station hall with an escalator descent leading to the only ground-based vestibule.

– Due to difficult geological conditions, all work was carried out manually. The chamber with a cross-section of 11.5 meters was built from the end of May of this year,” said the deputy. Head of the SMU-8 section Mikhail Nikolaev.

All this time, due to the requirements of the project, the slope excavation was suspended. Now construction has been resumed, it remains to mount 18 rings and arrange the interface with the tension chamber. The work will be completed by spring. 

Let us remind you that the 135-meter-long escalator at Sheremetyevskaya will be one of the longest in the Moscow metro.

Construction of the lobby

At the top, monolithic work on the construction of the ground vestibule is nearing completion. The first floor is almost completed. The formwork for the columns of the second one, where the technical rooms will be located, is ready. At the same time, foundations for escalators are being prepared on the level below.

The appearance of the lobby, from which you can exit between the 4th and 5th passages of Maryina Roshcha, will be made in the shape of a parallelogram.

The tension chamber is part of the structures of deep metro stations.

A hall connecting, depending on the project, a central hall, an antechamber or an intermediate vestibule with an inclined passage. 

Under the floor of the chamber there are foundations and tension belts of escalators.
