At the intersection of Novo-Sadovaya and Polevaya streets in Samara, the Samara tunnel boring shield was released, and the excavation of the left running tunnel on the Teatralnaya - Alabinskaya section was completed.
Numerous guests gathered for this significant event for metro construction workers: builders, media representatives, and city residents.
– We are present at a historic event for Samara and Mosmetrostroy. It is an honor that our competencies are in demand in the beautiful Russian city on the Volga. We are connected by a glorious history. During the war years, a special unit of Metrostroy built a reserve flagship command post in Kuibyshev, which is known as Stalin’s Bunker, said Sergei Zhukov, general director of Mosinzhproekt, who headed Moscow Metrostroy from 2013 to 2024, at the ceremony. – Today we returned to Samara again. The subway sections are being built by one of the best metro construction units - Tunnel Squad-6. Thanks guys for your dedicated hard work! We continue to work. There will be an 11th metro station in Samara!
The command to begin completing the excavation was given via radio by veteran metro builder Alexander Kuzin, a participant in the construction of all Samara metro stations and an honorary worker in the industry.
The excavation of the left distillation tunnel started on May 6, 2024. In less than eight months, the Samara TBM has covered 1,587 meters. The average penetration rate was about 300 meters/month, with the planned indicators being 250 meters. The tunnel boring complex is state-of-the-art and has a sediment-free tunneling technology, so its work is absolutely not felt on the surface. Soon, TO-6 specialists will begin construction of the right-hand running tunnel from Alabinskaya to Teatralnaya. The general contractor is the Volgatransstroy Group of Companies, which is constructing the Teatralnaya station and equipping the tunnels.
To continue excavation, the necessary documents are being prepared and completed. This was the result of the joint work of construction participants and government authorities, united in the construction headquarters headed by the Chairman of the Government of the Samara Region, Mikhail Smirnov. At the federal level, monthly meetings are held to review the progress of metro construction under the leadership of First Deputy Minister of Construction of the Russian Federation Alexander Lomakin.
Today “Teatralnaya” is in a high state of readiness. The station structure is more than 90% complete. Finishing work is underway and high-tech equipment is being installed.
The construction of the metro is the most important socially significant and large-scale project for the city. As you know, construction of the Kuibyshev metro began in September 1980 in the city center. A trial tunnel was built between the Prospekt Lenina (now Rossiyskaya) and Oktyabrskaya (Alabinskaya) stations. However, the construction was mothballed. It was decided to start construction from Yungorodok, where the city’s large industrial enterprises were located. On December 25, 1987, the first launch site with the stations “Yungorodok”, “Kirovskaya”, “Bezymyanka” and “Pobeda” was inaugurated.
The construction of the Teatralnaya station is being carried out using funds from an infrastructure budget loan and the Samara budget. The completion of the first line of the Samara metro and the launch of the section will allow residents of remote areas of Samara to get to the central part of the city with all its attractions (embankment, theaters, cultural and leisure, sports, educational institutions) in 20 minutes, reduce the train interval from 10 minutes to 3.5, and will give a powerful impetus for the comprehensive development of remote areas.
TPMK Herenknecht S755 "Samara" built 6 running tunnels in Moscow: "Troparevo" - "Rumyantsevo", "Salaryevo" - "Rumyantsevo", "Borovskoye Shosse" - "Solntsevo", "Ozernaya" - "Michurinsky Prospekt", tunnels on the north-eastern section of the Big Circle Line. In total, this is 12.3 km of underground highways.
