Connecting stations

The fourth section of SMU-6 is constructing a transfer to “Rzhevskaya” of the Big Circle Line. The correspondent found out what the transition between two metro lines under construction now looks like.

The transfer from the orange line to the Big Ring is being built at the level of the existing Rizhskaya station. About 120 people work here day and night. Through shaft 1241bis on site No. 10 they get to their workplaces.

Construction of an inclined passage to the Rzhevskaya “Rzhevskaya” under construction

Here, at a depth of 45 meters, impressive views appear before your eyes. Impressive round and semicircular workings radiate from the mining yard, with which they are connected by a looped adit.

Two spacious approach corridors have already been built. The first consists of 44 rings of cast iron lining with a diameter of 11.5 meters. The second one is one meter smaller in cross-section - out of 76, of which only 26 are complete. In the rest of the part, no communications are provided under the future floor. Therefore, only the upper half-vault was left here, and a reinforced concrete tray was made below.

They also build walkways between the corridors. One is currently being laid, the other two are already ready. Three more will connect the existing workings with the Rizhskaya station. One of them began to pass, but stopped five meters from the existing metro tunnels.

Since the end of May, an inclined passage to the station, which will be located almost two dozen meters deeper, has been built from corridor No. 1. By mid-August, 16 lining rings had been installed.

Drilling and blasting operations (D&B) are used here and the lining is installed using winches. Alexander Isaev, deputy head of section No. 4 of SMU-6, admits that this is the first time he has worked on escalator tunnels with this method.

ITC-120 combines were used to excavate horizontal workings. In the restricted area of the metro - 40 meters from the operating station - only mechanical and manual mining is allowed. The slope under construction is located beyond the border of this area, which made it possible to use drilling and blasting.

– Here the soils are usual for such depths: clay predominates, there are limestone layers, says Isaev. – There will be a total of 48 rings with a diameter of 9.5 meters in the slope. We go by explosions, so each one takes about three days.

Barrel 1241bis, section No. 4 was accepted at the very end of 2017. Over the next five months, 20 meters of the mining yard were covered in one direction and 10 in the opposite direction, and a treatment facility and a transport adit were built. Then they began to erect the main structures of the transfer complex.

BYWAY

At site No. 10, another vertical shaft was passed under number 1240bis. The fifth section of SMU-6 is being used to build the Rzhevskaya station complex. Two adits lead from here to the ends of the future station. One has already been completely passed. The construction of the second is nearing completion.
