Specialists from Mosgosstroynadzor checked the progress of construction of the Sokolniki station of the Big Circle Metro Line. Its readiness is estimated at 90%.
The new station on the Big Ring is being built in a historical location - 90 years ago it was from here that the capital’s subway began its countdown. So, the first and new Sokolniki will intersect at this point.
For the builders, difficulties were caused by the location of the station - it is located in an area of dense urban development and in close proximity to existing metro facilities. The busy traffic intersection on the surface also added complications. Now work at Sokolniki is nearing completion.
“Currently, the walls and ceilings of the vestibules and areas above the escalators are being cladding; the finishing touches are already finishing with panels with patterns of ceilings on the platform,” said Sergei Kaluzhsky, contract manager of Mosmetrostroy JSC. – At the same time, we install all engineering systems, including those in tunnels: fire protection, ventilation and others. The smoke removal system is already ready.
Experts are also preparing to profile the drainage channel in the tunnels. This work has been partially completed so far. Ahead is the installation of the contact rail. Crews are also engaged in installing architectural lighting at the station. On the surface, ventilation kiosks receive their design - they are covered with gratings. Up to 250 people work daily at Sokolniki, and there is practically no work at night.
They intend to launch the station as part of the northeastern section of the Greater Ring of the metro this year. This is also why specialists carefully monitor what work is being carried out at the station and what materials the builders use. Scheduled inspections are carried out regularly. Mosgosstroynadzor together with specialists from the subordinate State Budgetary Institution “Center for Expertise, Research and Testing in Construction” checked the facility for almost two weeks - until April 25.
According to the Chairman of Mosgosstroynadzor Igor Voystratenko, special attention was paid to the installation of engineering systems and architectural decoration of Sokolnikov. The strength and quality of the main reinforced concrete structures are also assessed. The Center of Expertise will submit official conclusions to Mosgosstroynadzor. If necessary, action will be taken on them.
